There has been a lot of chatter about Arden Key's NFL Draft stock dropping and on Friday we learned that the former LSU defensive end spent some time in rehab during his leave of absence from the team last offseason. Per NFL.com:
quote:

There's no doubt about Key's ability. But his diminished play last season -- a drop-off that followed offseason shoulder surgery and a "leave of absence" that Key has revealed to NFL teams was a voluntary stint in rehab to get a handle on his marijuana use -- has left him as a long shot to go in Round 1.

"He was a shell of what he was," an AFC scout said. "His actions have proven to be habitual, and I don't know that he can kick it."

Generally speaking, marijuana use isn't much of a red flag for teams. "For him, it is a big deal because it's affected his playing career at LSU," an NFC personnel director said. "The kid needs a lot of support and a lot of help. He needs to not smoke."

Oh THAT kind of rehab. For fricking weed? No. You don’t need rehab for weed. It was for something else, or more likely it was just a requirement to stay on the team when busted. If so, no issue here.

Gaining a ton of weight + rehab = a booze problem

Not to make a former player of ours look like shite but the fact he didn’t do his job for LSU his last season frick him.

To the guy saying booze...people who stop drinking generally lose weight, not gain it. And for those that want to say weed makes you eat more...not for elite athletes that burn 8,000 kcals a day. You can’t eat that much in Doritos.

According to the stats, let Him smoke weed and let Tiger woods bang Denny’s waitresses. Both were better prior before they “cleaned up”.

I don't think that is much of a surprise at all. I sure wish he would have chosen to stay another year at LSU while he gathered his shite and got his head straight. A year of damage control could have netted many millions of additional dollars for him. With his stock hitting the bottom right at draft time, I am not sure he will get much of a pick at all.

I agree. Another year at LSU would have helped his draft status if he showed improvement. If not, it surely would not have hurt anything.

Wish you the best AK! Get your shite together. You were the man vs Alabama but be a man off the field. Geaux reach for the stars!

Let me see, smoke weed or make millions of dollars? Hmmm, not so sure that is a hard choice for anyone mentally stable.

It just shows you that weed is addictive. You keep failing tests. You know you are going to be kicked off the team. You keep smoking. Mind you I didn’t say weed is particularly harmful. But it, like anything, is addictive.

Teams are looking for a bargain, i wouldn't take him before 4th round. And if he becomes as good as he thinks he is, it's a win win, he'll get his money after he performs.
