Lane Kiffin Confirms Two Players Have Joined The Tigers In Practice

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin confirmed Monday that tight end Dae'Quan Wright and EDGE Junior Tuihalamaka have joined the Tigers and are practicing with the team.

Kiffin also made it clear that LSU has kept the SEC informed about both players participating in practice.

"The SEC knows that," Kiffin said. "It's in no violation of the previous rule or even the new rule."

Wright spent time with the Cleveland Browns this offseason before being cut, while Tuihalamaka did not receive an invitation to an NFL minicamp after playing at Notre Dame.

The two are among the players at the center of the ongoing eligibility situation involving LSU, the SEC and players seeking another opportunity to play college football.

Why is Junior even in this legal conversation if he didn’t even get an invite to play in an NFL minicamp?

Possibly because the NCAA voted to exclude that entire 2022 class from the 5 for 5 rule not just the pro rule, and the federal judge issued 5 for 5 TRO which allowed the entire class to play a 5th year nationwide as long as they met the other NCAA rules including on professionals was stayed on appeal. 2 issues across fed and local rulings - the ones from 2022 who didnt get a 5th year and then out of those the ones who signed with professional teams. If they don’t get a TRO, injunction, or actual decision adding a 5th year the being a pro or not doesn’t matter.

10 years ago LSU’s selling point was even our backups make NFL rosters. Now the selling point is we’ll take whoever can’t make an NFL roster.

I get the 5 for 5 and fairness of giving everyone the same opportunity. I think waiting till they get cut is the troublesome part. If you wanted to come back, they could’ve left minicamps voluntarily once the lawsuit paved the way for them to return. College ball shouldn’t be someone’s safety net if they can’t make an NFL team.

How do you know it is a safety net, though? How do you know that they maybe knew their draft status before the draft started and they would've decided to stay in college for a fifth year to improve that draft status if they had the chance instead of trying to walk onto a training camp????. That's actually the most likely scenario

That’s my point. They didn’t know until they filed the lawsuit and many of them or all of them didn’t leave at that point. They only wanted to go back once they didn’t make it and the whole point of the lawsuit was to give them the safety net to go back to college. How many of them would even try this without NIL money?
