LSU landed a commitment from 2019 long snapper Quinton Skinner during the Tigers’ kicking camp on Friday afternoon.

The 6-0, 235-pound prospect is from Buford, GA, which is where LSU's current long snapper Blake Ferguson is from. Blake's older brother Reid was a four-year starting snapper at LSU from 2012-15.

Skinner is LSU's fifth commitment for the 2019 class. He joins offensive linemen Kenyon Green and Kardell Thomas, wide receiver Kenyon Jackson and cornerback Maurice Hampton.

I remember a time when LSU let someone on the team deep snap. It was not a great idea. When you do not have a good deep snapper it can cause untold misery. Man, we had the ball flying all over the place on punts. This a key player when you think about it he touches the ball on some critical situations. He must be good.

These kids in Buford have paper routes. How do you think they get the paper in that tube under the mailbox? I'm glad his folks didn't name him Richard.

Not glamorous, but essential. I'm happy for the kid, but I hope I never hear his name again, if that makes sense.

This is the 3rd long snapper in a row from Buford GA. Apparently they have a factory over here.
