LSU's new men's basketball coach signed a six-year deal worth $15 million ($2.5 million per year), and both sides are on the hook for the entire amount.

The contract does not include a buyout. Wade, 34, would owe the school his remaining salary if he were to leave for another job, and the school would owe him the entire amount if he were to be fired.

Wade's contract was obtained by The Advocate through a public records request. The contract must be approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors at its meeting next month.
Wade replaces former LSU Basketball coach Johnny Jones who was fired at the end of last season.

Really feel like it's a homerun hire. A cerebral coach that also doesn't mind beating the streets.

I think Coach Wade is exactly the type of hire we needed. A young energetic guy who wants the opportunity to establish a winning program.

Wow, great news. Wade should be locked in pretty much for at least 3 or 4 years before we are worried about him going somewhere else.

I like the fact that both sides stand to lose if Wade leaves or is fired. That's a lot of insensitive to win and build the program up to national prominence!

If Wade produces like he recruits for the next two years LSU will be forced to give him an extension with a BIG raise. And our only bargaining chip would be a buyout. Man am I excited about our program right now.

If negativity was a commodity on the NYSE, you's own the lion's share.

After seeing how the bball program went the last few years, and seeing what Wade has done so far, do you not think a degree of optimism is warranted? And, I mean, if you can't enjoy this, why do you even follow sports? Do you only get happy for chips?
