LSU assistant coach Tony Benford is reportedly leaving the team to join TCU's staff under head coach Jamie Dixon, according to College Basketball insider Jon Rothstein.

Benford was previously the head coach at North Texas before he was hired by Will Wade in 2017. He served as LSU interim head coach while Wade was suspended during the SEC and NCAA Tournament.

Can’t blame him for wanting to be close to home. Best of luck.

I thought LSU traded Benford for Woodward.

Between Yahoo and this I doubt LSU will even have a mens basketball team next season.

Really appreciate the job Benford did for LSU this year, but don't think this is a big blow to the basketball program. It was pretty well recognized for those that attended home games during the season, Wade and Benford were not on the same page all the time. Think he was gone this year regardless.

That was a rumor. Nothing was officially announced for that.

Agreed. If it was simply a rumor then it should have been reported as just that. Sloppy is correct.
