LSU guard Javonte Smart announced on Instagram Monday that he is declaring for the NBA Draft.

Smart, a sophomore from Baton Rouge, said that he will keep his NCAA eligibility open throughout the draft process, which would allow him to return if he wants.

Smart started 30-of-31 games for the Tigers in 2019-2020, averaging 12.5 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.1 steals.

He’s just testing the waters to see where he ranks! If he doesn’t like what he hears, he will come back for another season!

Again basketball is my least popular sport at LSU. No continuity. You can't get to appreciate these athletes because they're gone so fast. I feel sorry for the coaches.

Do these LSU players sense a weak draft class, and that’s why they’re jumping?

They sense they can go through the process again, get evaluated, and come back again if they want
