Former LSU head basketball coach Will Wade was officially hired as NC State's new head coach on Sunday evening.

Wade coached at LSU from 2017-2022, compiling a 105–51 record. He was fired from LSU in March 2022 and has coached at McNeese State for the past two seasons.

"I am beyond excited and honored to be chosen to lead the Wolfpack basketball program," said Wade. "NC State's rich tradition, passionate fan base, and location in one of the best cities in the country make this a destination job and I can't wait to get started. I would like to thank Boo Corrigan and Chancellor Woodson for this awesome opportunity. My family and I look forward to being a part of Wolfpack nation."

"We are thrilled to welcome Will Wade as the new head coach of NC State Men's Basketball," said NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson. "With a proven track record of excellence and a commitment to building a supportive culture for student-athletes, Will is the perfect leader to guide the Pack basketball program to new heights."

At least he's not in the SEC. But this still feels like Saban 2.0.

Well deserved. Will probably take all of 5 mins for the NC State fans to fully support him, kind of like what happened at LSU

Kinda sad to see him leave the state of Louisiana he built many good relationships here . More so than someone named Matt . Will has always made his teams help out the community’s by doing events and ETC. I can’t remember the last time Matt has done anything for the community besides giving rides on his golf cart. Don’t think he ever leaves campus
