The University of Alabama is threatening to sue sports personality Clay Travis over t-shirts he made after the National Championship game that read “Aloha, Bitches” with the "A" being the cursive Bama "A" in honor of Crimson Tide QB Tua Tagovailoa...

Clay has been making “Aloha bitches” shirts for a couple of years now. He makes great points in his article, pointing out that this is clearly not the Alabama A, asking if they own every version of the letter A, and if they would like to design their own acceptable version of the letter A for him to put on his shirts. He basically told Alabama to frick off.. I really hope they don’t back down just for the comedic aspect.

I'm thinking a case like Iowa vs. Southern Miss (Iowa won) hurts Clay's argument.

You don't have to like it, but Alabama will win this.

I do not believe that to be the exact trade marked "A" that bama uses... It can be as close as possible, it just can't be exactly the A. Hell, you can use the same dimensions and flip the letter, but you cannot be exact... I also know of a similar situation dealing with a logo and a cease and desist...

The gump version has the mullet at the top. This one doesnt. Bama has no case.

Another Font Lawsuit. I remember when Wisconsin sued Woodlands High School, right outside of Houston, because they had the same H

I guess that would be relevant. You know, if he wasn't trying to sell University of Alabama football t-shirts.

Haha! I went to The Woodlands HS, I can confirm the story... TWHS had and academic "W" (which was a blocked W) and and athletic "W" (which was the exact Wisconsin W) they used on their letter jacket. The story goes a swimmer from TWHS who was on scholarship at Wisconsin was wearing her letter jacket on campus. Someone saw it and started a big thing about it. Apparently there is a specific degree in the bend of the Wisc W. Wisconsin won; TWHS kept the same exact Wisconsin W but flipped it.

I'm 100% positive this has to do with Clay Travis always bashing Bama, Saban, the players, the University, the students, etc. They probably just want to stick it to him and they'll crush him on this topic. Simply crush him.

they won't crush him. He is a lawyer. He has tons of people in the profession that will defend him for free. He will sell more shirts, get more attention, get more viewers, and then STILL win the lawsuit and get more attention after it. The university should have ignored his shirts and it would have already passed. They dumb.

I believe that "script A" is trademarked by Bama. If it is (and I believe it is), he's gonna lose miserably. He'll either have to cease and desist or pay royalties.

Not to mention this clearly is in reference to Bama and has the NC trophy on the shirt. Yea, he isn't winning this one.

The University of Alabama has sued people over some silly things in the past, but I can't say I disagree with them here. Those shirts are trashy. I wouldn't want to be associated with them.

They draw the line at this shirt, but not their trashy arse fans? Really?
