Longtime Alabama announcer Eli Gold has landed a new job after a recent breakup with the Crimson Tide.

After 35 years as the Voice of the Crimson Tide, Gold will be the television voice of Jacksonville State for football, men's basketball, and baseball games in the fall.

In February, Gold voiced his disappointment after Alabama did not renew his contract.
quote:

“Well, the university has chosen not to bring me back,” Gold told Casagrande. “This is not, with a capital N-O-T, not at all health-related. I am very healthy. Everything is wonderful. I am healthy as a horse.”
His comments sparked a statement from The Crimson Tide Sports Network.

I thought he was a really good announcer in his day. But you either leave on your own while still in your prime or someone will show you the door when you’ve overstayed your welcome.

I heard Hawthorne interview him some years ago and he was just as insufferable as some of the entitled gump fans. Good riddance.

I would think that someone with his clout would never have to work again in his life

I always liked him as an announcer. He was great at NASCAR, but he definitely sounds like an old man these days. It was time.

Television voice of JSU? So he actually doesn't have a new gig. Got it.
