but I've seen people who have never lifted before walk in the gym squatting 300+

I certainly haven't. There really aren't that many people in my gym truly squatting 315. Out of the people who actually put that much on the bar, probably 3 out of 10 actually do a parallel squat.

1000 would have been cake with deadlift instead of powerclean.

deadlift is pure raw power and is usually the hardest for people to do of the three lifts

stop talking nonsense

So you are saying you can powerclean more than you can deadlift???

All of this right here.

I need receipts for some of these numbers.

You can't compare an explosive oly lift which is very reliant on form and timing to a raw strength power lift. It's apples to fricking oranges.

There are some people who are great at power cleans that can't deadlift for shite.

I know many more true men who can't lift that....and I wish I was half the man they are.

On topic: I can go north of 1000 easily and I'm an old washed up dude.

Not looking for a pissing match, but probably 75% of my gym can get 315 for 1 rep. We aren't even talking a parallel squat, I'm talking below parallel

But the point is that using deadlift would make it easier to get to the 1000 lb mark. That's all he was trying to say.

No

He was referencing his gym as a whole, which I responded too

I'd say 5-10% walk in and squat that

Unless you're at a true powerlifting gym i highly doubt this. Not with good form to parallel.
