re: VW dieselgate update - KG6
It's been a process. I originally got my documents in with an expired registration. I figured there was no reason to pay the 80 dollars to re-register if I was turning it in soon. Well, they didnt accept the paperwork because it was expired (which I think is BS because maybe I just had it in my ga...

re: Why do pizza places charge a delivery fee that's not a tip? - KG6
I delivered food in college. When gas jumped up, they added a dollar fee to the delivery as a gas surcharge. There was no fee before that. At the place I worked, we got the dollar. That was on top of minimum wage and tips. Does not sound like what Domino's does. Box says it's not money directly...
Abraham linkin
It's Abraham LinkedIn. He invented the professional social media app. He actually sold that shortly before becoming president. Trumps only issue is international business. I think he should hand it off no matter what though. ...

re: 51% of 30 year olds make more than their parents did at 30;down from 92% in 1970 - KG6
Have you ever watched The Middle? I day they still are middle class and struggle with certain things. I believe the middle class is very very broad and can encompass those living paycheck to paycheck and those living comfortably. I think the upper class is small and relatively unattainable...

The average income in the whole country is only 50 something thousand. So are they all bordering on poor? This is why I can't take a blanket statement that xx amount of dollars suddenly makes you upper or lower class. On both ends of the spectrum I think defining it that way is dumb. ...
middle struggle to save enough for retirement, college, healthcare, etc upper shouldn't struggle to pay for any of these if you struggle to pay for any of these at $200k, you just suck at managing money
I agree 100% with this statement that and it's kind of how I made my...

120k student loan doesn't help certainly. And I'll admit that is savings on top of retirement. I'm not pretending it's not comfortable. It's completely and totally comfortable. But I am surrounded by people who make more and have more. They may also be in "my bubble" but there are plenty in...
Bottom 1% poor middle 98% middle class top 1% upperclass?
I think you can't include someone with a 500k income to someone with a 200k income. Just as you can't compare 200k with 30k. I think there is lower, lower middle, middle, upper middle, and upper. The higher you get the la...

It's upper middle class to me. It's certainly a vast difference than lower middle class. But it's not the same stratosphere as a millionaire. People have a crazy belief that you just have buckets of cash. I'm in a 300k house, have a 33k and 24k car, pay daycare, 401k, insurance, and a hefty s...
Are you willfully ignorant of this county? 200k a year beats 95% of this country. Venture outside of your sheltered little life sometimes.
I know poverty far greater than many. My family growing up was middle class (teacher salary), so it's not personal experience. But my mot...

re: 51% of 30 year olds make more than their parents did at 30;down from 92% in 1970 - KG6
The average income of Louisiana is like 45k. If you raised the lower end of the middle class up to much from 30k, then you are saying a large portion of the state is lower class. I think the latest numbers for the country as a whole is only like 51k average household income. So middle class is ce...
200K = Top 6% 350K = Top 2%
But I know quite a few people making 200k combined. Hell, I think we did last year with bonuses. It by no means puts you in the upper class. Upper middle...yes. ...

VW dieselgate update - KG6
I think several on this board were affected. I got my offer this week and signed, notarized, and uploaded it to the claims site. Waiting for them to review and give me a choice of trade in dates. Anyone get this far yet? How long am I looking before I have a date scheduled? Going to be buying a...

For a family of 4 with a dual parent income situation, probably like below. Although the number of parents working shouldn't matter, I just don't see two people working and making 150k each as upper class, nor do I see 1 person making 30k as lower class. But if both struggle to make 30k feeding 4,...
This is the result of shortage of skilled labor jobs being available in manufacturing and such
I sort of agree with this. It's is becoming more rare that you work for 5 or so years in a manual low level job, then move into the office and work your way up to management. All my man...

re: Seriously, whats so great about Texas? - KG6
Not trying to say MSY defines Louisiana. I know that area of the state more than I know Texas (only been here 2 1/2 years), so I know it's just part of it. But when comparing shitty areas, Houston has much nicer shitty areas than the NOLA and BR metro areas. I worked in Greenpoint (aka Gunspoint)...

re: Los Angeles prosecutors office going after major retailers - KG6
Saying it's marked down from 100 is not the same as saying we have been selling it for 100. Just that the value is seen to be 100 and we are selling it for less. You can say something is worth 100, but you sell it for 60 and not be falsely advertising. And if you are doing that, it is true to say...

MSY certainly doesn't do any favors to people's first impression of NOLA. I flew in for work from IAH in Houston this week and it's just depressing around the airport. Whereas IAH is in a very shitry area of Houston but still is nicer. ...
They never sold them or even listed them at $99.
Every car ever sold. MSRP 30,000, but we'll take 2k off sticker. No dealer has probably ever sold a car at MSRP, so what's the difference? They are merely stating the value, and what they've reduced it to. Value is subjective. You...
