re: Cold Feet Tips

Your body will restrict blood flow to your extremities (feet) once you start getting cold to prevent hypothermia. Keep the rest of your body from losing heat - warm hat and even a face mask. Gloves, warm socks, vest… once you start getting cold your feet can’t recover.
Gas them. They sell poison gas flares, look like small road flares to stick in their burrows. Only thing that worked for me.

And don’t be afraid to to put some lines of in some shallow water. Flatheads will be cruising shallow water for spawning sunfish.
Cure is to prevent bacterial growth inside the sausage when you are cold smoking it. If you are making fresh sausage or hot smoking sausage then you shouldn’t need it. Not sure if cure will take care of raw pork - trichinosis and the like.

I don’t hunt the Evangeline Unit but I’m sure most districts are the same. There is some good info in the Louisiana hunting regulations book for specific hunting seasons and regulations. As far as camping goes you can pretty much camp anywhere and hunt anywhere but check the rules for certain distances for hunting near roads, buildings, etc. Call the district office if you have any questions. They are really helpful and will call enforcement officers if they don’t know the answers to make sure they are giving accurate information.

Poison gas/smoke is the only thing that worked for me. They sell it at Lowe’s, looks like a miniature road flare. Light it and stick it in their tunnel.
In Lafayette, will donate.
I have one that I would be willing to part with. Email me at jwsnatic@gmail.com and I can send you some pictures.

re: Planting rice in a wet weather pond?

I’m not saying you can’t hunt over an agricultural crop. I think it has to be planted as an agricultural crop with the intent to harvest it. If you plant corn or rice with no intent to harvest it then it wouldn't be considered an agricultural crop.
I’m pretty sure you can’t legally hunt over an agricultural crop unless you are farming it. If you plant a crop like corn and don’t harvest it and flood the field and you couldn’t hunt it. This would be considered hunting over bait. I assume the same would be true for regular rice. You may be able to do this with wild rice- something native to the US but another wild aquatic plant might be your best bet.
Are you cleaning the barrel after shooting? First shot with a clean barrel can be off a little bit.

Yes, this happens. You get the animal’s gut bacteria on your hands and end up ingesting it when you eat something. Pretty soon you are farting the same farts as the animal.
You may want to add some extra bracing to it while it dries out to prevent warping.
I was having same issue. I noticed that at night, even when it wasn't raining my plants would stay wet due to dew/condensation. I moved my containers to a table by my AC units so they they would get hot air blown on them every time the AC came on. The leaf spot went away and I didn't need to spray at all. Plants ended up doing really well.

Summer vegetable gardens and bugs.

I'm trying a summer vegetable garden again this year and am looking for suggestions on bug resistant plants. My spring tomatoes and watermelon are getting torn up by leaf miners. Last summer I had good luck with sweet potatoes, okra, and peppers- almost no bug problems. I want to plant 1 or 2 more vegetables that I don't have to spray weekly. I'm in south Louisiana (Lafayette).
