Right now it's long streaks of bad pitching interspersed with a couple of good pitches.
Tonight in Oxford, Ethan Darden will be the starting pitcher with Sdao going to the bullpen. General feeling is that this is not a bad idea. Remainder of weekend rotation is likely Sims on Saturday and Moss on Sunday.
Tomorrow night vs. PV we need to run out all the little used arms. Get them some innings.
First series loss since March. Auburn is a very good side. But we are still in good shape. I agree that the overall lack of arms will be our undoing in the end. Still it's been a very good season so far.
No idea what to do about Sdao. Best idea so far I've heard suggested was start Darden and move Sdao to the pen. Conceptually, I like it.

DH tomorrow at Olsen. Game 1 at 1:00. Game 2 is 45 minutes after Game 1.
Raining in B/CS today. Doesn't look like they will play tonight.
On the other hand, look at what this season's pitching staff truly is. Zero "elite" arms. We have a bunch of functional arms, including one coming off of Tommy John surgery. It's a staff that does not walk many, and that has been important during the course of the season. And I think overall the staff has improved as the season has progressed. There isn't a Cortez or Aschenbacher to come out of the pen to close the door. It's been a managed combo of Johnny Fullstaff to make it work. We just need to make sure we aren't fighting our way out of the losers bracket during the regional.
Earley is managing this probably as well as it can be done.

Partida and Wilson are battling for Freshman of the Year.
Not only did we take game 2 we hit 5 home runs. 2 of them spotted by NASA.

But we have steadily improved overall in the last 6 weeks, so we have that going for us.
OK, open up tonight vs the old nemesis LSU at 6:00.
BTHO LSU!

I think we are fighting an uphill battle on pitchers for the moment, and that is while we are getting facilities finished out. Look at our stats and we're not issuing many walks. Certainly the 2 strike meatballs are infuriating but they seem to lead to more often than not, solo HRs. Definitely needs to improve....
We might have also seen this year's staff start hitting a groove. We need a couple of guys to find their mojo, because the offense is there. I know a lot of folks bag on Kelly but the guy has been national assistant of the year. So is it the coaching or is it the talent? And it does feel at times like we're having to ride with a Johnny Fullstaff scenario night in and night out.
This season feels like some of Coach Johnson's teams in the 80s. Teams that could mash but always seemed to be an arm or two short. And given the injuries and departures we're a number of potential arms short this season.

Who had us scoring 20 runs in 2 games?
Four pitchers injured and 2 left the program. Now it's numbers.
JK was national assistant coach of the year in 2018. So is it him or is it we're down a big number of arms or what?

Mizzou swept. That was needed.
No question.
I agree. Missing 4 arms that were being counted on is putting the nails in his coffin here.
Apparently it's not looking good for Stewart. Someone is going to have to step up. There isn't a choice.
I like the switch in today's lineup.

Just making the dance under the circumstances going into the season is one hell of an accomplishment. Zero expectations, but winning one would be fantastic.
We're going to have to discover another arm in the pen. Possibly someone who was considered a redshirt prospect?
