12 teams - 1 group of 4 team, likely 1 ACC team (miami). You're vying for 1 of 10 spots.

Big 12 - unless they start beating eachother up looks very likely to get 3 teams in between (BYU, Utah, Houston, Texas Tech all with easy remaining schedules to get to 11-1+). So youre down to 7 spots between B10 and SEC and Notre Dame.

At worst 3 teams from Big 10 - Ohio State, Indiana and likely Iowa (based on remaining schedule) seem like locks. If you put aside the UCLA/USC/Oregon. So there's only 4 remaining spots for SEC/Notre Dame.

UGA, Ole Miss and UK look to have the easiest paths towards 10-2 schedules. If ND ends up 10-2, theyre likely going to take them for that 4th spot over any 9-3 SEC team, as sad as it is with their lack of reasonable wins.

If/only if another SEC team goes 10-2 do I think they'd bump ND in that scenario, based on strength of schedule.

Absolutely criminal.

But I could see that happening along with your mention of 3 Big 12 teams ONLY because people know it's expanding to 24 teams next year.

If that wasn't the case, there'd be a riot if 3 big 12 teams got in and a 9-3 SEC team was left out.

There needs to be another weighted metric other than record.

Texas Tech @ 11-1 would get trounced by a 3L LSU team

Apocalypse scenario is Utah beating BYU but losing to Houston.
Going into Conf Champ weekend it could be:

Texas Tech (12-0)
BYU (11-1)
Utah (11-1)
Houston (11-1)

Arizona could save us from all of this. But they also have an outside chance of getting to 11-1.

Also don’t think UK gets through November without a loss and could be two.

just wrong -- multiple ways it could happen:

1) BYU wins out, texas tech wins out. and Houston wins out.
2) Utah wins out, Texas Tech wins out and BYU's only loss is to Utah after beating Notre Dame
...other combos of the above nature..

i still think there is a suprise SEC team people are claiming is dead.

Either LSU, OU, or Texas will get hot and win out. Any of those finish 9-3 they are 100% in
