re: Top College Bands

tOSU band is just big. They have a nice tradition with the dot of the i. Not in the same league as the USC band, though, and lacks the Song Girls with the white sweaters
That guy should have picked a lower key

Who recruits Louisiana?

Posted by Carson Sanchez on 4/16/10 at 1:41 pm
In recent history Louisiana has led all states in producing Top 150 recruits (on a per capita basis) I know USC reruits here (e.g.Robinson, Johnson, Hilliard). I would imagine most of the big programs are trolling here too. In California a few national programs (esp. UF) recruit the top players, but mostly these schools are after second tier guys. Is Saban pretty active in LA?

What ever happened to the Cajun Chef? I used to watch his show occasionally. I still use Milsonisms when I cook, like ...add a little ON-YON. OOEE! I am assuming that someone on this board will know.

Is he related to Dalton? Sorry for my ignorance. I watched Dalton run all over the Trojans in 1984 in the LA Colisseum. LSU won by 20. That was a significant game for Trojan fans, who finally realized that they were not very good. This was the beginning of the Dark Period after 1983 NCAA sanctions and s#it recruiting. It took 20 years to recover

One of the few guys that can hit Rivera - it is his unorthodox swing. Are those shorts the style in Baton Rouge?

Not too many know that they're the Song Girls

Nebraska commit a good one

Why didn't LSU and USC offer this guy?

Nebraska Pick-up
Loweralabama - I appreciate your wishful thinking, but SC's class is top-heavy and it does not fill major areas of need
Paul I see you live in TX so I will watch what I say. I have heard that TX players have a reputation for softness at the NFL combine. Maybe I read this on a message board, so it is probably BS. However, I saw a well researched statistic that LA high schools produce more Top 100 college recruits per capita than any other state. This was a time series study covering 20 years, so it was not a flukey thing. I would guess that LSU will contend for NCs 3 or 4 years after the banner years for LA high school recruits (Unless Ed Orgeron raids the state!)
He is already carrying a Trojan lunch box and sippy cup
Unfortunately, that hasn't translated into NC contention for a few years. You have to recruit the right types, fill needs, and develop these guys. It isn't easy to develop players that already believe their own hype
Salford and TigerPaul - It isn't just coaching either. Certain types of 5-star recruits go to SC. Usually they like the "Hollywood" thing, and have never worked at anything in their lives. Suddenly, they realize they didn't make the 2-deep and their giant egos are bruised. Some transfer. Others just don't develop a work ethic to improve and contribute less than the 3-star guy who listened and worked hard
Apparently, his mom says it will be USC. I hope I have figured out the link

Star Tribune writer's latest blog entry
The very first class shown is the USC Class of 2006. That class should have been a major contributor last year. Instead, USC basically sucked. This is what happened: First look at USC's 2006 recruits that were rated in the Top 100

Vidal Hazelton transferred
Antwine Perez transferred
Jamere Holland transferred
Shareece Wright Academically Ineligible
Joshua Tatum transferred
Emmanuel Moody transferred

Also

Anthony McCoy – now academically ineligible
Stafon Johnson – injured neck, gone

Also among the less-than-top-100 recruits in the class of 2006:

Kenny Ashley – gone
Walker Ashley – gone
Alfred Rowe – gone
Vincent Joseph – gone
Gerald Washington – gone

Not much in left in the class of 2006!
