girlie drink? Prancing? A) i've only had Sam Adams at Joe's. And my hamstring won't allow prancing. i know, i know. it bums me out as well!
I hear that a lot!
Humble, yes. when you look like i do, humble is all i've got. humility ain't all there is to it, though. job. security.

oh, fella's. i'm not sure exactly why anyone thinks, just because i'm having fun on the set, that i want to be on espn. far from it. yes, i WENT to Northeast---but was kicked out. graduated from UALR... and i'm not a hippie, it was a mullet. big difference.
when i turn to our anchors and refer to them as Boomer, TJ, SVP, or whatever--THEN, i will be THINKING i'm on ESPN; so far, pretty sure i'm on ktbs.

here's the script from our 10:00 (after BCS Championship Game) newscast...
on my radio/tv show thursday morning, i reported that a source that i trust had told me Gary Crowton would be dismissed as the offensive coordinator at LSU on Friday... i also said LSU officials would only tell me that it was just a rumor... I said i would continue to look into the tip hoping to either verify or nullify the information...
##
TODAY, THE SAME LSU OFFICIAL THAT I COMMUNICATED WITH ON WEDNESDAY ANSWERED MY CALL AS HE WAS EXITING LES MILES OFFICE---HE SAID, QUOTING: "IT'S WEIRD YOU'RE CALLING RIGHT NOW---LES AND I WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT THIS--AND HE SAID THAT GARY IS STILL ON HIS STAFF AND WILL BE ON HIS STAFF."
##
CAN'T GET MORE FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH THAN THAT---ALTHOUGH, RANDY ROSETTA OF THE BATON ROUGE MORNING ADVOCATE SPOKE TO GARY TODAY... IN DALLAS RECRUITING, CROWTON TOLD ROSETTA THAT HE INDEED WILL BE BACK AS THE O-C NEXT SEASON...

I'm in! I'm somebody! Thanks for approving me, guys.
Look, in our business, we ALL want to get the story out there first---but accurately. i haven't mentioned anything about my "tip" on television--using my daily radio/tv/web show this morning as an outlet to vent. My idea of sportsTalk radio is, it's a group of folks sitting around a bar talking sports. Some guys know more than others, some less. But all are interested. That's what my show is.
I mentioned the "tip" and footnoted it with the emergency brake statement indicating that it WAS still a rumor without any verification from LSU.
Unfortunately, that part of the convo didn't make it onto TigerRant until Cauble passed along my e-mail (Thanks, Cauble! Good dude, by the way that Mikey C.).
Personally, i believe the wildfire spread b/c Tiger fans can see the offensive problems as well as anyone else. Anyone who has seen Reuben Randle or Russell Shepard play at full speed knows the talent that's available for Gary. But we don't understand why it wasn't utilized.
Since joining the broadcast industry 15 years ago after five years as the worst life insurance salesman in history, my motto regarding coaches has been and will continue to be: They are being paid to win. Therefore, they HAVE to be doing all they can in order to place their team in position to win. Sometimes (oftentimes?), it doesn't jibe with my viewpoint. But that doesn't make THEM wrong or ME right. As a contributor to the Baton Rouge/LSU economy on a more regular basis now that a beloved offspring is dropping classes w/o my knowledge (remaining a full-time student, though!), I feel your pain. Look at it this way---growing up a Razorback Fan, we're still clinging to a mythical title the year before my birth. Two titles in seven years? My older brothers and Dad would die happy Hog fans with that kind of track record.
Again, I hate that this has grown so quickly... looking forward to checking out the place more often now that i'm a member. Hmmm, that's my philosophy on the hair club as well!
