I know the pitching sucked. but the bottom 3 in the lineup did absolutely nothing. If Trey was in there...maybe we get another run across. It's not that far-fetched.

Dishon was 0-fer...1 hit pretty much anywhere could have made the difference...

He led our team in on base average before he was injured. He is one of the fastest players in the SEC. His replacement went 0 for the day. Chances are, Watkins would have been on base a few times and LSU could have scored another run or two. One more run in the first 9 innings was all we needed in Game 2.

Edward trying to follow in Dishon's 0-fer ways...

Not to mention he is better defensively. May not have mattered yesterday, but just because Dishon didn't have any errors doesn't mean Watkins couldn't have caught one just out of Dishon's reach.

And I know the outfield would have gotten shuffled around, but the point still stands.

ETA: PM felt Dishon was LSU's best chance at success, I don't want to put any blame on him. Just saying the OP has a point.

On that point, I disagree.

Ok, then why did Landy get pushed to center and Dishon get put in left when Watkins got hurt?

I'm not following? 9 X's out of 10 a team puts their worst outfielder in LF (see Manny Ramirez). Watkins has misplayed several balls in LF this year. Dishon is playing good defense, it's his hitting that was not there yesterday.

Dishon's defense is better than Watkins defense. However, Watkins at the plate has been way better than Dishon's.

For whatever reason I had in my head that Watkins was playing CF when I typed my last post. Would you at least agree that Watkins covers more ground than Dishon?

Watkins is so much better as a hitter and base runner that a slight edge to Dishon on D is insignificant...

Mainieri has said that Dishon is probably the fastest on the team. He is better defensively.

However, Watkins' glove is not that much of a step back and has a much better bat.
