I will bet LSU -4 as I feel the Wisconsin running is solid but they are too one dimensional to move the ball consistently against your defense. DBs will be able to cheat up and support the front 7. Not sure about your passing game yet with the loss of Mett and the two big receivers but your running backs should wear down the Wisky defense. Think you win by 10+
I understand all the rationale for taking the under but I hate unders and in the college game it is a dangerous play. If I were betting it, I would favor the under. The other reason is thius game is picked as a once score game, or stated another way, close. That brings the tie into it and that could add 20 more points (they need to change that and make the O/U just the regulation game.
Good luck, I think you guys have a good chance of making it to Atlanta this year. Hope we see you there.

re: What Has Joe Alleva Added to LSU? Looking for positives...

Maybe not the discussion the original poster meant but this guy is making all of you look bad. I am no fan of our new AD either, he is also a wimp about scheduling but Alleva is embarrassing. He cannot open his mouth without whining about having to play Florida. I always had LSU as my backup SEC team but the LSU fans I know don't want a watered down schedule. Part of my respect was you guys could man-up to any team and played a good OOC schedule to go with the SEC regulars, but this crying is pathetic.
The Top 6 teams, historically, were all picked to have a strong rival from the other division each year. Yours is no worse than the others, although TN has fallen off in the past several years. As a CFB fan, I look forward to the LSU FU game every season, mark it on my calendar and hope the UGA game doesn't overlap it. Somebody tell the guy to shut-up and play, you should be proud to have games everyone looks forward to watching. We all certainly have to watch enough mis-matches against cupcakes.

I don't know bro, it is an honor just to be at/near the top of the best CFB conference in the country during its glory years. Honestly think you guys are the worst matchup in the conference for us. No matter who wins on Saturday, we should be in Atlanta, but I would rather play Alabama than you again. You are playing better than Bama so you should win, and I always pull for LSU in the West but once against you is enough for one year. Fate has smiled on both of our schools though so I am not going to curse Her.
Gurley will get his yards unless you sell out to stop the run like UNT did last week. They were able to limit him to 90 but opened up the passing lanes and paid the price. Very hard to stop all the weapons we can throw at you, we will get our points no matter what you do. Our problem is, we cannot stop all LSU can do. I prefer to set up strong against the run and make Mett beat us because there is no doubt your running game can demolish is if we play soft. You can always have a QB be off in a big game on the road. My guess is neither works and we will see a lot of points scored by both teams on Saturday.
re: SEC Championship Preview: LSU vs Georgia (LSU +3)

I agree, these two teams will probably meet again in Atlanta regardless of who wins this Saturday. They look like the best in the East and the West divisions. The line being that close also seems accurate and it might come down to a play/possession game. Mett has more pressure on him as he is coming home and wants to erase the past issue he had. Don't see him as the big difference maker though, our primary concern is limiting the power running game of LSU. We have not been good against the straight ahead runs of power teams since Grantham came to UGA as DC.
Not a very good assessment, imo. 35-41 is the correct answer as someone said above. Both offenses are better than the defenses they will face. Your defense is better than ours by a decent amount, but our offense is about the same better than yours which makes it pretty even. Game will come down to the number of mistakes made at critical times. Your STs are much better than ours but home field advantage evens this out. 48-21 is not even realistic for anyone that knows football. I will agree that if either side can hold the other to 21 it will be a blowout but I am positive you, and anyone else will hold our offense to 21 so you should hope that score doesn't come true. One score game, could go either way.
Slight disagreement Coonass, I agree your D has an edge but feel UGA has the offensive edge. LSU has a definite STs edge offset by Georgia's home field advantage. Looks like a very good matchup that could go either way...close, high scoring game. Of all the SEC teams, LSU is the one that concerns me the most. While both will lay it all out this Saturday, this game will not keep either from making it to Atlanta for the SECCG. A rematch there in December seems very likely.
You guys know better than that, we were no more in danger of losing that game than you were the Auburn game last night. Both teams played a little sloppy against equally bad teams. We had a 640--240 yard edge over UNT, maybe better than you had over them last year. They only scored 7 points against our defense, got a score on a kickoff return and on a blocked punt in the end zone. 2nd half was played in a driving rain, like yours last night. Main issue was get out with no major injuries. Believe what you would like though. You have the better defense, us the better offense, STs edge to LSU, home field to us. Looks like a good SEC matchup.
I agree with you cleetus, this is a 3 point line either way, depending on where it is played. I expect the line to move closer to a Pick as you guys have a stronger national following and th emoney will drive the spread down as the week moves along. Great matchup, but the one I dislike for us more than any other SEC team. I would put the odds at about 60/40 your way and expect it to be a one possession game decided in the 4th Qtr. Weather forecast looks good at this point, those traveling to Athens, have a safe trip.
Agree, it should be Oregon #1, then Bama/LSU tied at second....and I would put you ahead of Alabama based on their first two games but that would never happen from sportswriters. Stanford should have fallen out of the Top 10 after that gamw with Army and nothing impressive to offset it, and Louisville shouldn't be in it at all. Hell, Kentucky hung around with L'ville all game.

You are the worst matchup in the SEC for my Dawgs, just too physical a running game for us. I would rather play Alabama or A&M than LSU in the regular season.
Mett looks a lot smoother this season and the running game will open up play action opportunities for him. The only hope we have in limiting the passing game is his lack of mobility and a fall off in your receivers this year. We will definitely have some success against your defense because we have a lot diversity and weapons to throw at any defense. That isn't a knock on your defense, I have just never seen a better offense at UGA than this one. Our OL will just have to play better than they did at Clemson and give Murray some time because we may have to just outscore you in a shootout as I don't see any defensive answers for your running backs.

It is almost certain to be a 3:30 start but I am crossing fingers that the CBS crowd will want Bama/Ole Miss because of the nation's obsession with the Tide. I would rather play anyone in the SEC than you guys so I want every edge we can get, and a night home crowd would work. I would have LSU rated ahead of Bama based on the play I have seen....and would have Oregon at the Top of the polls. See you in two weeks.
Your defense will be the best we have faced Our OL was horrible against Clemson but improved a good bit against SC. Again, the number of playmakers at the skill positions mean we will find some way to successfully attack every defense. Your front four will be a load for us to block, we just don't seem to get any push. Our TEs and FBs will have to play a big role in blocking schemes, fortunately we have strong players two deep at both positions.
Both injuries were minor and players will be healthy for North Texas. Hopefully we will get backups some playing time and both teams come in at full strength.
I taped your game against TCU, very impressed with your team this season. It will be a helluva an SEC game. Our offense is the best I have ever seen in my years of watching Georgia football, and they will score on everyone, just too many options to defend. Bad news, we will stop no one with the defense I have seen. It will be a shootout, which is better to have at home with the crowd in it. Just wish CBS would pass us by and we could play you at night. Looking forward to seeing you guys again, this is what SEC and CFB are all about.

I don't think any team has ever done so well against a schedule as tough as LSU has faced. I wouldn't trust SOS ratings though, it is determined by computers that are biased by the programmers. Very impressive body of work by the Tigers, not only have they won against all comers, they have whupped the others pretty well. Great job by Miles, his staff, and the team.
re: Will Mark Richt sign a contract extension with UGA?
Posted by Suthndawg on 12/2/11 at 11:26 am to YellowShoe
He will be offered one, and I hope he signs it. Richt will NOT use other openings to get more money, nor will he go to another school. If he leaves UGA will be for what he considers a higher calling. That might happen because the man is not just driven by the money. I think he stays because he still has young kids. Probably important to get that contract inked by next weekend to help with recruiting.
I was there in 2003, I am hoping for a better outcome too! Also got 4 tickets yesterday on ebay so driving in to enjoy the atmosphere with the SEC's best fanbases. Safe travels to all, let's enjoy what looks to be a very good game. You guys look better in several categories, but we owe you one.
Anyone who fools with LSU music and traditions is a damned fool. I love your band music at games, there isn't another team even close. Stay the course (although I hope I don't have to hear it much tomorrow in the Ga Dome!)
In that case, UGA would be in trouble. We are not a West Coast offense type of passing attack, we throw the ball vertically. Most throws will be intermediate with several attempts to throw long. With time Murray is pretty accurate and does a nice job of throwing the back shoulder type of comeback along the sideline. Mitchell and Charles are the primary targets but Bennett, Conley, King, and Brown are solid too. Plus our 275 pound FB was a former TE who has good hands.
re: The quality of the UGA O-line?
Posted by Suthndawg on 12/2/11 at 9:55 am to TigerDude80
Don't know what that emoticom means, but if you have watched any of our film/games you will see we have several quality receivers. No AJ Green types, but several that make plays so the ball gets spread around to many. It is more of a challenge this season than with AJ as a go to guy. They are young, have good hands, and go up for the ball well. Charles is a hybrid TE who presents matchup problems for LBs. If Am gets time, we move the ball through the air. This is meant as no disrespect for your secondary, it looks to be two very good units going against each other.
Yeah, I would say about 25% chance, maybe 35% tops. But I have bet horses that are 3-1 dawgs so hope springs eternal. I think this is a one score game, possibly 2. When you are within 7-10 points as an underdog you have a shot. LSu is definitely better, but I can see UGA winning 3 of 10 games against LSU. We have to have our A game, period. If you guys have your A game I don't think we win. Better matchup than many here think, having a good defense keeps you around where anything can happen.
