That doesn't mean 5 HOME games. 4 SEC games are on the road (Vandy, FL, Auburn, and Ark) and all of those will most likely be day games. That only leaves 1 SEC home game during the day. I'll take that.
When looking at those ERAs, you have to take into account the level of competition and the fact that most of there opponents play small ball (not a lot of scoring).

No because he'll be playing pro baseball
wwl is playing a rebroadcast
If you look at the two pictures above of the new board and the old board, all of the ads are the same size. I'm sure those companies have contracts in place that guarantee them certain square footage of ad space. Hopefully, once these contracts expire, the whole screen will be used for showing game video...but I guess that's wishful thinking.
It would be a waste of money becasue they will have to take it down when the south endzone is closed in.

What about the additional suites that would be added? People pay a lot of money for those suites, and after these are added it wouldn't take too many regular seats above them to make the attendence > 100,000.
Having it in TS would only be an advantage. It wouldn't hurt anything. Plus, it would look 1000x better. Have you seen the way paint looks on these fields? Imagine having purple and gold on the field instead of purple and greenish yellow.

Plus, if they are practicing on field turf, that's just one more reason to have it in TS.

they are still going to practice on grass for the most part. Now if it rain and bowl practice, they can stay outside
So, when it rains they move to the field turf because they get more traaction and don't tear up the grass fields...what happens when it rains in TS. Since they don't have field turf, they lose their traction and they tear up the feild. This is why they should put it in TS.

I agree, but LSU is faster than the majority of its opponants

i assume you mean outside of conference, right?
No. I think, with the exception of Florida, LSU can outrun any other team in the league.

They recruit fast players a rely on their speed, but when it rains and they are slipping around, they lose that advantage

The other sec opponents will also be faster on our turf. So, there is no advantage.
I agree, but LSU is faster than the majority of its opponants. Therefore, when it rains, they lose their advantage. Rain "levels the playing field." This wouldn't be the case on field turf.
Judging by the way LSU has played on the field turf in recent years, I'm all for it. They recruit fast players a rely on their speed, but when it rains and they are slipping around, they lose that advantage. Plus, if they are practicing on field turf, that's just one more reason to have it in TS.
FWIW I played on the new Nike turf, and, as far as traction and overall feel, I thought it was a lot better than natural grass.

Your opinion is that you agree with it. I don't.

And I didn't really make any outlandish comments. I was just questioning the reasoning behind the decision.

and i gave it to you, but you still disagree
Ok, now I get it. Everyone is just supposed to agree with Josh. Sorry, I'm a "newbie". It takes me a little longer to understand how things work around here.
I guess because I recently registered and I don't have 12,870 posts (cool guy ) I'm considered a "newbie", but I've actually been reading the website for a few years. And I didn't really make any outlandish comments. I was just questioning the reasoning behind the decision.
Believe me, I wish I had a job that allowed me to do that, but I don't.

Eventhough our opinions mean nothing to the people who decide these things, I sill disagree with it. I could argue about why I disagree all day, and regardless of when they play I'll be there, or at least watching or listening, but it's not important when they play. All that matters is HOW they play, and we all know that LSU will kick the crap out of Southern on Fri and sweep through the regional. That's all that really matters. :jump1: :jump2: :jump1: :jump2: :nana: :nana: :geauxtigers:
I had a ticket, but I can't go because of work. I'm sure other people are in the same boat as I am.

LSU would have trouble getting fans to 1pm games on fridays during the regular season, and i'm sure the opponents dont wanna have to miss more school for that.
And how can LSU get more people in there for the nightcap if it will already be sold out and full for the 1pm game? Your logic is flawed.
No one said anything about getting fans to 1:00 games on Fri. during the year. You said that one of the reasons was that the team would need more time between games, IF they lost. I was saying that they are used to playing late on Fri. and 1:00-3:00 on Sat. Your logic is flawed buddy. If they played at 7 on Fri and they lose, they will have the same amount of time as they usually do.
Also, have you ever checked the paid attendence compared to the actual attendence? I know there will be a lot of people at the LSU game regarless of the time, but it wont be full. If was at night, it would be standing room only.
quote:.
First year following? LSU does this every year. LSU does this for 2 reasons. 1st, in case they lose the 1st game, they have more time in between games, 2nd, they make more money this way. They will pack the seats regardless of what time the LSU game is, people are more likely to go see the other game if its in primetime as opposed to 1pm on a Friday. More money for LSU
It's not my first time following, but it is the first time that I noticed that EVERY host team elected to play the later game, except LSU.
It's not about more time between games because every weekend during the season they play a 7:00 game on Fri and a 1:00-3:00 game on Sat. So that doesn't make sense. And although there will be a lot of people there, there would be even more people there if the game was at night.
I'm just pissed because I could have gone if it was the late game, but now I'll be stuck at my desk listening to it.

If the host team gets to decide when they want to play game one, why was LSU the only team to pick the early game? You would think they would have a much larger crowd and make more money if LSU played the later game. How many people are going to get off of work and go watch Minn. play Baylor? Someone help me understand...
