re: Tough road to get there, but if there is justice we will see Ole Miss again - melrose on 9/23/15 at 11:08 am
It really is roll-on-the-floor funny that fans of other SEC schools post in a thread on the SEC Rant. Oops, I did it again....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Tough road to get there, but if there is justice we will see Ole Miss again - melrose on 9/23/15 at 6:54 am
If there is any justice Alabama wouldn't even have to play games -- they would just be crowned champion every year. Since they are so obviously the better team win or lose, this would save a lot of injuries and would keep teams that luck into beating them (but only on the score board) from wasting e...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Is a team really that good when they win only by six points despite having a +5 - melrose on 9/21/15 at 5:47 pm
No worries! I don't blame anyone after this near-perfect weekend. LSU embarrasses Auburn, Ole Miss embarrasses Bama, and Texas and USC both lose. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

I know it was tipped forward, but I thought the announcers said it had to be intentionally batted. I don't actually know the rule, but I couldn't tell that it was an "intentional bat"....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

Ole Miss did not "get every break." Bama got plenty, including two passes that hit Ole Miss defenders in the numbers and were dropped. At least one of those drives continued for a Bama touchdown. Maybe the other one did too, I don't remember. The onside kick was certainly a break for Bama. As much a...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
Alabama fan on HWY 31 in Birmingham - melrose on 11/19/12 at 6:21 pm
I'm driving up over the mountain today during rush hour in Birmingham on HWY 31, and I notice that on the other side of the highway is a pulled-over vehicle. There's a 60-ish looking man walking from the vehicle across the highway to get something that I can't see because of the concrete divider. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (6)
re: Les just said the playbook IS indeed open. - melrose on 10/1/12 at 2:30 pm
I thought the coaches did use at least a new wrinkle to help win the Auburn game -- the throw back to Spencer Ware in the 4th quarter. It was also set up nicely by the previous roll outs (that had me scratching my head at the time)....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
Brother Bill on Patrick Peterson - melrose on 9/28/10 at 7:07 pm
Just thought I'd share -- today on the Paul Finebaum show Finebaum asked Bill Oliver what he thought of Patrick Peterson. He responded "He's in a class by himself," and then went on about the reasons why. I thought this was pretty high praise from someone who knows a thing or two about defense....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: LSU fans & Auburn fans, your seasons end like this. - melrose on 10/6/09 at 11:45 am
LSU has consistently been at or near the top of the Colley Rankings this year. They are currently ranked number 1: [link=(http://www.colleyrankings.com)]Colley Rankings[/link]. This is a computer poll that ranks teams purely on wins, losses, and who those wins and losses were against. The fact th...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Love that 20/20 hind sight... - melrose on 10/5/09 at 4:08 pm
One of the things I've seen a lot since the MSU game that really irritates me is the "but for a goal line stand LSU loses that game" business. How about actually knowing what the situation would have been? "But for a goal line stand, LSU would have trailed by less than a field goal with a minute l...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
Colley Matrix Rankings - melrose on 9/15/09 at 11:06 am
This is one of the rankings that goes into the BCS that has no human component. It'll change a lot week to week this early in the season, but still kind of interesting.[link=(http://www.colleyrankings.com/currank.html)]Colley Matrix[/link]...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (6)
re: App St vs Michigan - melrose on 8/7/08 at 10:24 am
App. St. may have shocked the world, but it wasn't just Michigan not taking them seriously they had some good players. They had more players drafted than Alabama, for example. (Any excuse to point that out.)...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
