Yeah, I can’t speak for Beaver nation but saw the draw and went…damn. We play like we did in our conference tourney, we’re screwed
My wife’s a duck, I grew up in Eugene, but yeah, they have an elitist attitude. Several of my duck buddies say you’re just jealous we got Phil Knight. Uh, yeah, of course I am but you don’t have to be pricks wherever you go thinking you’re the best at everything. All fan bases have it and I get it, but them and usc…lot of holier than thou. If I made it to the game, I know my place. I’m in enemy territory. Will I cheer my arse off for my team, of course. Do I know I’ll get some flack? Of course. But know your place, be respectful, be kind, and Cher for your team. You win, kick arse. You lose, own it and move on.
BEAV fan here. Y’all welcomed me with open arms last season when I’d just moved to Houston and gave me a ton of tips and tricks to Baton Rouge. So appreciated. I’m so pumped we get to play y’all, but I’m pissed because I have other $#!+ that I have to do that prevents me from coming. Sorry, I’m a family man and gotta do what I gotta do. Beavs laid a turd in the Pac-12 tournament. I love to talk smack but the way we’ve performed over the last week, if we don’t wake up, it’s 2 and bbq for us, even with Tulane in it. Hope to play y’all on day 2! Best of luck! Tons of respect for LSU!

But when I saw him Saturday, I just thought some goober wore an Oregon State shirt to the game.

:rotflmao:  I've been called worse. and it very much did happen getting recognized...thought that was cool of y'all.

Were you wearing an Oregon State T-shirt? I saw you in the concourse Saturday but forgot all about this thread. Dammit.
Yep, that was me, tall skinny white guy with a beaver hat and sunglasses! Was a great visit!

How old are you - 40ish? This is awesome.

Yessir...still young at heart!

As long as Thompson is at short we won't make it past the regionals. He is a liability on defense and will cost them down the road
Man, that routine DP ball that was exactly what the tall Randy-Johnson-esque size pitcher threw after he was struggling and got bobbled...I was just like "UGH"!!! Sorry, I don't know all the players names as it was my first time going to LSU. But at least they got the dub and the sweep after the weekend prior.
Well, I got up early and made the 5 hour trek to Baton Rouge. Should've been 4 hours, but the last 9.8 miles was 48 minutes. I kept refreshing WAZE because I was going "WTF?...that can't be right?" Then I thought...LSU, college town, baseball game, spring football game, dammit. So I grinned and beared the 2 mph last bit going over the Mississippi. Was cool to see the stadium off in the distance.

I showed up. Thinking that the baseball game got pushed back and was heading towards Death Valley. Great Atmosphere, but as I'm walking past Alex Box, I hear a "Ping" and roar of a crowd. Asked one of the attendants if the game already started, she said yes. Well $#it..so I jog back to my truck to get my tickets but I made it in and it was only the top of the 2nd, so I was good.

Ran into one guy that said "Hey, are you the Oregon State guy from Tiger Droppings?" I said I was. First thing he asked me was "Where've you gone to eat so far?" I was like "Man, I literally just got here so have had no time but going to check out Walk-On's and Chimes and a few other places after the game."

Got to my seats way out in RF after grabbing a bud light. Talked with a few nice folks. Talked college baseball, pro baseball, college football. Had a HR land about 30' from me. Guy next me didn't see it as we were talking, I saw it right off the bat and went "Oh that's gone!"

Started getting a little baked in the sun so at the end of the 4th I wanted to walk around and check out what many of you told me to go see. Saw the museum. Guys, that was first class! We have something similar in Corvallis, but not to the scale (as our program isn't as storied as yours). Loved the displays, history, I'm a Cubs fan so I took a pic of Theriot and Fontenot hi-fiving each other as teammates and my kid loves Bregman so got a pic of his glove.

THen headed to the main concourse behind home plate and tried some of the local brews. I think I had Jucifer? Had a great view of the field behind home plate and seeing Death Valley in the back was cool. Had a few people pass me and go "Hey...Go Beavers!" Chatted them up and was having a blast. Guy bought me a beer! I was watching 3 games at one time as my 2 boys are still in Oregon right now playing. So watching a tight LSU game and watching icons on GameChanger. What’s great, all teams I was rooting for won!

Around the 8th innning, I was getting hungry and thirsty. Most of the stands were already shut down so I walked to Walk-On's. Got myself a Po-Boy and beer. Cool Sports Bar and everyone was super nice. Then I was tired and hit the hotel for about an 1-1/2 hour nap.

Took a quick shower, changed, and then hit the bar at the hotel. Had a Ghost Machine (I think)? Not too bad. But after a beer and the bar being pretty dead, got an Uber and hit Chimes. Now that place was my jam. Loved how it was old-school. Met another Tiger Droppings guy and he said "Hey, you're the Oregon State guy!" He bought me a round (THANK YOU). They left and then some college students came in. Chatted with them for a while. They bought me a round. Well, I returned the favor. Now I'm their best friend and they invited me to a party so I was like, what the heck, why not?

So, go to a fraternity party (my first one in 20 years), I was probably the oldest guy there but nobody cared. Had a few beers, listened to some good live music from a band from Georgia (can't remember their name). As it had been a long day and was almost midnight, I got an Uber.

Next morning, got up, and went to Louie's at the recommendation from one of the Tiger Droppings contingent. He said it's not the best, but it's an LSU staple so when in Rome, right? Drove through campus which was really cool. Reminded me a lot of Oregon State on how it's laid out (probably a lot of college campuses are similar). Hit up Louie's, had their #1 combo, had a bloody mary and some coffee. Liked how they dressed the bloody with Tony's Creole seasoning. Found out that it's pretty much anywhere in the South. That stuff was good, they don't have that in Oregon. After that, I hopped in the truck and headed back to Houston.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY!!! Great first experience and it will not be my last! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you for all the tips. I wish I had more time to go see Mike the Tiger but I had to get back home. But I will be back!!
Well, $#it...I guess I'm doing 2 events. Coming in from out of town, was going to park at my hotel that's 1/2 a mile South from the Box. How far of a walk is it from the Box to Death Valley? 10 minutes? First time to LSU so any help is appreciated.

Just a 'heads up' to keep an eye on the start time for the baseball game on Saturday. There's some chatter out there that the game time may be moved due to the football spring game. So, you might get the opportunity to take in both after all.
If that's true, that would be awesome to see both! We just had our Spring Game last weekend. More of a situational scrimmage but still fun to go to and check out the 2nd and 3rd string

I was at Oregon State's game vs. Long Beach this past Saturday. Will not be as chilly in Baton Rouge.

My buddy I coach with was there. 47 and showers...yep, that's what we got to deal with in Oregon. D-Bags aren't as strong this year. We just laid an egg against the Zags yesterday. Mid-week games expose our weakness, little pitching depth.

There will be some tailgating going on outside The Box, west side. Don't hesitate to introduce yourself and explain what you're doing. Good chance you'll get invited to eat, drink and be merry.

Will do! Thanks for the tip, a new friend of mine that's LSU alum stated the same thing. He said state what you're doing as you might get some looks wearing your OSU gear, but as long as you're cool and respectful, most people will welcome you with open arms. He said expect some friendly $#it talking, but I'm used to that everywhere so it's probably no different to all the other places I've been. I just want some good gumbo!

So check out Chimes after the game, Walk-On's is alright (I was just looking for a pregame place), I'll check out the mini-museum, the craft beer behind home plate. Since the Spring Game's at 1, probably won't have time to check it out.

I might check out Death Valley on Sunday AM before I head back. Was supposed to go back in 2004 but got transferred the week before so had to give my ticket away. All my friends said you guys were extremely hospitable and nice. They had a blast.

Thanks for all the tips! Looking forward to it!
Well, d@mn...Oh well, still looking forward to it and watching some quality SEC baseball (by LSU, not Mizzou :rotflmao:)
I've seen it a million times on TV. Was supposed to come down for a Regional but work through a wrench into that. Aside from Omaha, I've heard it's a bucket list college baseball stadium to go check out. Since I just moved to Houston, have never been to LA, I figured what the he||, I'm going to go watch LSU at Alex Box.

Got tickets (looks like I'm in RF). I got a hotel for the night as I really don't want to drive 4+ hours back after the game. I've asked a few people I've met here that are LSU fans and they said Walk-On's is a place to check out. I don't know if there are any tailgaters to check out, I just want to take in the experience.

I shouldn't be hard to miss as I will be wearing my Oregon State gear (GO BEAVS)! But that said, I've always respected LSU's program. Saw them once when they came to Corvallis for a Regional. Invited a few LSU faithful to our tailgater as they were walking by giving them smoked salmon, smoked tuna, and a few of our variety of beers. They loved the fish, not our beers (we had some bud light and Coors Light.) But they were super cool.

Any pointers on where to go would be greatly appreciated! Oh, and do they serve alcohol? They do at Goss (beer & wine only), but it's designated areas only and you can't bring it to your seat (that could've changed as it's been 2 years since I last went).
