And you’d trust your life on a gun that doesn’t fit a mag easily and quickly?

It’s a design flaw I noted. As I said I would go with a gen 4 personally. Some people like the 5 for the ambi slide stop and the match grade barrel, but you need to train to learn the muscle memory of magazine changes with that particular nuance. I only have 2k rounds through my gen 5 and primacy from the previous generations works against me with the gen 5 mag changes.

This is where I get the majority of my “news” from.

What generation of the g19 do you prefer? Reasons?

Gen 4 personally. I would say Gen 3 but the texturing on the 4 is much better stock.

If you are left handed go with a gen 5 due to the ambi slide stop. However the mag well on the 5’s are atrocious with the cut out in the front. I know it was for the MHS contract, but they should have done the cutouts one the side. On the front it hangs up mag changes on the regular.

I don’t mind the finger grooves on the gen4 but that might be another consideration to move to the 5.

I have a gen 2, 3, 4, and 5 19. I also have the 19X and 19M. You can’t go wrong with a 19 of any flavor.

I wouldn't worry about how long it takes. As the weights increase so do the rest intervals. I have days where it takes me an hour and a half to do 8 total reps.

Are you a pro?

The argument for LEO/MIL duty guns went out the window with the Sig 320. That whole debacle really showed that these contracts are given out under serious corruption and greed.

The M18/320 is a fine weapon. Once they fixed the drop test problem it’s g2g (lets not pretend Glock isn’t immune from recalls). I would have preferred the military went with the Glock, but empirical evidence from those at the trials showed Officers shot the 320 much more capably.

As of today I would select the following firearms in order if I had to grab something to defend my life.

G19
G43X
P320
P365

Does Right Capital have cash flow analysis? I like that Emoney does, where as Money Pro does not.

Yes it does. It does it in the budgetary way and also retirement cash flow analysis based on whatever scenario you test.

Call them up and schedule a demo. Their customer service is top notch in my experience.
Bring one of these in case...

Please name me one LEA, OGA, or DoD department that trusts Canik for duty use...

People who depend on their firearm for a living are not reaching for Canik.

I'm going to throw my vote in for a Canik as well...

Caniks are fine for messing around, but they are not to be trusted with your life. If you only have one pistol to trust your life to, I would highly recommend going with a more trusted manufacturer.

So you spend $1,500/year for a retirement calculator? I did not see a free version.

Yes I do. I’m currently planning my drawdown strategy for retirement and the tools provided are the exact same thing you’ pay both a CFP and CPA for which would cost in excess of $1400 a year.

Repeat the cycle but add 10lbs every 4th week.

To manage fatigue separate your working sets from your supplemental work by 2 days if possible.

Also if 5x10 is too much volume for supplemental work for you utilize a 5x5 FSL (first set last) instead. So if you’re first working set that week is 70% your supplemental work will be 5x5 at 70%.
You shipped the slide only to have Trijicon HD’s installed? You could have bought a sight pusher from MGW on Brownells for about $100 or brought it to your LGS who likely has a universal sight pusher...

I recently saw an ad for a Beretta M92 compact for $399. Anyone have experience with this gun? Ive only seen the full size. The compact looked nice.

I only have experience with the M9 and 92FS not the compact model. They are fine weapons. If it’s to add to your collection I’m sure it’s a great gun. However if it’s your only gun or if you envision it being your daily driver I would not recommend vs something like a G43/43X or a G19.

Any particular recommendations for that type of quick access handgun safe?

I have a V-Line Brute and it is very good. Look at the testing it’s a great value.

Any ideas on where to find one? Everywhere I’m looking says out of stock.

There’s some here but they are likely overpriced. My LGS has several in stock. Just go and talk to your LGS and develop a relationship. Might even try calling GT Distributors I’ve had a lot of success getting both a blue label 19X and 19M from them recently.

You still work at Bowie’s? I recently saw Jim’s had an WC X9L I was eyeballing.

What did you end up going with? I’m in the same position as the OP. I’m looking for something to keep kids out and smash and grab protection.

I personally keep the majority of my guns unloaded in my above ground tornado shelter in my garage which has a good lock (allegedly). However I keep my primary home defense handgun (G19 w/TLR-7A) and my EDC G43 loaded in a V-Line Brute on my nightstand.

I only really care to keep it away from my kids not necessarily for protecting them from burglary. Although if you look at reviews of the Brute it’s pretty strong and California DOJ approved.

The Smith machine completely takes any stabilizers out of the equation. If it’s the only thing you have access to go for it.
