Procedure is usually a piece of cake.

1-2% of the time it gives you chronic (permanent) scrotal pain

1% of the time it gives you prostate cancer.

I collect stories about vasectomy complications, including prostatitis and chronic pain. You might find my project interesting. It's the /r/postvasectomypain subreddit.

I'm in the 1-2% who get the long term scrotal pain. Almost three years since the vasectomy and my balls still feel sore frequently. Ejaculating doesn't feel good and makes everything sore for about a day.

Good luck! I sincerely hope I do not get to add you to my collection of post vasectomy pain stories. (Over at www.reddit.com/r/postvasectomypain if anyone is curious.)
>I was in your boat 5 years ago and stumbled onto an Internet forum for “post vasectomy pain syndrome” that scared me shitless.

That would be www.postvasectomypain.org

There is also a subreddit at www.reddit.com/r/postvasectomypain

Only 1-2% have this issue, but yes it can lower your quality of life permanently.
Post vasectomy chronic epididymitis is definitely way more common than people are led to believe. Usually doctors say rare (e.g. 1 in 1000) or very rare (e.g. 1 in 10,000) but the real chances are more like 1 in 50.

Consider posting your story to www.reddit.com/r/postvasectomypain where there is a collection of several hundred examples.

Another complication that doctors will flat out deny exists but which many men do report happening is reduced sensation during sex and an unsatisfying orgasm.
