First of all, thanks for all of the replies and advice ... keep it coming.

Why wouldn’t you do Kyoto in between?

We're trying to keep the trip at or under 10 days, including travel, so we picked Tokyo and Osaka as "bases" for 4 nights / days each. We are definitely considering doing Kyoto as a day trip from Osaka. Just out of curiosity, do you think it would be better the other way around?
I'll be taking my son and 2 of his friends to Japan for their senior trip in early June 2026. We will be spending the 1st half of the trip in Tokyo and then taking the shinkansen (bullet train) to Osaka for the 2nd half of the trip.

I have traveled pretty extensively in South America and Europe, but I've never been to Japan.

I will be making travel plans and reservations soon, so any tips or advice would be much appreciated.

Don’t forget Westwego!!
Bumping to give this another try, as my first attempt didn't work out.

If any real people who have real tickets are still interested in selling 2-4 tickets to the LSU vs FSU game in Orlando, please e-mail me at chadm71@hotmail.com.

I'll give you $40 for it. If you're interested, text me at chadm71@hotmail.com

re: Players in Grand Isle for benefit

The benefit is the Blue Boot Fishing Rodeo. It was started a few years ago by a friend of mine (and his wife) after his son drowned to raise awareness for children’s water safety. The founders are close to Gavin Dugas and he’s been very supportive of the cause. The rodeo is held at Bridge Side Marina just at the foot of the bridge when you enter Grand Isle.
Looking for 2 tickets to LSU vs Florida State on 9-3-23. Not super picky about seat location but obviously would prefer decent seats. Please email at chadm71@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance! :geauxtigers:

We're sailing on the Enchantment out of Barcelona, the cruise ends in Civatavecchia. Our first Mediterranean cruise on Royal, on the Serenade, left from there.

What was your experience sailing out of Civatavecchia? Any issues to be aware of?

Also, what were your port calls and general idea about each? Any must-do's or must-avoid's?

Our trip is 4 months away and we're still planning at activities at each port. We will also be staying in Rome for 3 days before the cruise.

Our last cruise on Royal was in October. Compared to previous cruises on Royal ships, the food outside of the specialty restaurants was not up to their usual standards. We gave them the benefit of the doubt, as the ship was just now getting back into service following the Covid pandemic. We cruise again in August on a France and Italy itinerary. Should be fine.

What ship are you sailing on in August? We are doing a Western Mediterranean itinerary on Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas in May. Sailing out of Civatavecchia (Rome) with stops in Italy, Spain and France.

How have the husbands of the OT dealt with this dreaded question?

Where is the question?
I actually agree with most of this. Instead of the 2 extra SEC cross division games, SEC should make an agreement with both the ACC and Big 12 where each SEC team plays one from each conference.

LSU already has Texas at home on the schedule ... it would be an awesome trip to go to FSU or Miami, or even one of the Virginia or NC schools.

I’m sure the SEC, Big 12 and ACC could put together some really intriguing match ups for those 2 extra cross conference games.

This is what it should not read:

Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek Will make LSU and SEC schedule

Do you not see how that is wrong based on the actual tweet? Womack is making the schedule, not Yurachek.
I'll take 4 please. Thanks!

Historical Fiction Suggestions?

Posted by chadm71 on 10/4/19 at 6:23 pm
I am looking for suggestions on good historical fiction. I have read most of the books by Bernard Cornwell, James Michener, James Clavell and Ken Follet. That being said, I am not set on any particular geographical area or time period.

Thanks in advance!!

ETA: They didn't try this shite while Obama was president. Wonder why they're doing it now? HK has been independent for decades.

Hong Kong was released as a territory by Great Britain and became a “Special Administrative Region” of China in 1997. Technically, they’ve never been independent. For all official purposes, Hong Kong is a part of China. However, they have been traditionally allowed more freedom than mainland China.

While I would love to see HK become totally independent, this is a much different situation that if they were already free and China was trying to usurp them.

PS. Neither Obama or Trump had anything to do with any of this.
