My wife and I moved from the Tyler area up here to Lakeville, MN to be close to our daughter, her husband our 2 grandkids. Liberals all around and just plain stand-offish... We have heard the saying “Minnesota Nice”,,, but it’s actually “Minnesota Ice”... Been trying to convert a few and have one gentleman down the street that tells me “You and your wife are the only friends we have in the neighborhood... Archie is 92 and just a great guy, so I just don’t get others in the neighborhood not being friendly !!!!

From Texas and have been in Woodbury, Mn for close to 10 years.....THIS!

For anyone outside the state the saying goes.... they will point you to the grocery store but never invite you over for dinner.
Good. It was nothing but a Notre Dame suck off during the season between dad and son.
Yeah. There is the story that Eddie Murphy cast him in his last sitcom to help him get out of debt. Della Reese was in it as well. He died during filming.
I live right outside the twin cities. There was a city council vote to replace the police today, I believe. What does that do to property values? :banghead:
Live in right outside the twin cities. No way in hell I live here without home protection. Then again, I’m from Texas. Good luck to you.
National guard activated just now...the riots bled over into St Paul. It's crazy up here

Great dude that was solid entertainment. The work that he did with kids at his ranch will go muted which is a shame.
Late in the 90s I was walking around the quarter before meeting a friend and ran into Bill Clinton... well I actually ran into his SS bodyguard... then i got to meet him.
Solid post.... all wheel drive vehicle is a must have. Period.
Oh yeah... and the most Passive Aggressive people like nothing on the planet.
Word on the state taxes... pays for all the bike lanes and homeless shelters ya want. Depending on where you live... you can mitigate all the bs.
Yeah it’s cold.... that why they have hamster trails... literal human hamster trails... downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. They skyway system.
I’m in financial services... and the number of companies here surprised me when interviewing. I came here from the east coast. Ameriprise, Alliance, Wells Fargo, Securian, US Bank...not to mention 3M, Land O Lakes, Best Buy, Target...

There is a saying here though... it speaks to the culture.... people here will happily tell you where the nearest grocery store is but they won’t invite you over for dinner.

Most people here are lifers and still have their original friends from the second grade. Transplants tend to stick together.
Originally from Texas... I’ve been here 8.5 years. It’s very cool 5 months out of the year of you like the outdoors. It snowed in the middle of April. That is asstastic!

What’s not widely known is that there are 15+ Fortune 500 companies ( work for one) and 2% unemployment here. Great job market.

Cost of living in high. High tax state.

There is a huge immigrant population... mostly northern Minneapolis. What do you want to know?
