re: What's the market for ticket buyers at the game?
Posted by vtowntigah on 6/21/25 at 5:57 am to Tigerpaul1969
In 2017 I went with a group of friends to the championship series, and we bought GA tickets in the outfield for $15 a piece. Two games, $30 total. Went back in 2023, sat in dang near the same spot and they were ~$130 a piece.
Didn’t matter, paid the extra price for the tigers to win it. No matter what, every thing costs. Take it all in. Omaha is a beautiful place. Frick CCU. LFG Tigers!

re: Throwing off Game 1 is not a new concept.

I don’t think either decision is bad. If you throw 1a or 1b against UALR, and they go deep into the game, it’s a matter of saving a bullpen. You then have all arms available for the winners game bracket. You assume Eyanson could go 7+ against DBU, then you have your whole bullpen for Game 3 and the if necessary game.

As much as we could throw a mid-week guy and win, you throw your ace to keep them on schedule for the Super Regional. You can say what you want about thinking ahead, but you have to when it comes to pitching. Fortunately, have 2 aces so one or the other is going Friday and Saturday. We will be fine. You just hope they each go 7+ to save the pen for Sunday and (if necessary) Monday.

Yeah they’ll get their arse kicked around. Got lucky today, that’s how it is. But a couple bad weekends and they’re in deep trouble. Have fun not hosting shite in the postseason, 8&4. Hope you go 0-6 the rest of the way.

Who is the Sunday guy for the TAMU?
re: Freaking bunt him

Everyone knows that you when you get the lead off guy on, you bunt him over and put him in SCORING POSITION.
This one is on Jay Johnson. Absolute piss poor job coaching today.

Says he’s from Moss Bluff, but he is originally from Ville Platte.
re: Jeff Willis from LSU Eunice

Let me rephrase that because Division I in baseball is more expanded than football. I don’t think he’s a Power 5 head coach. I believe a school like McNeese, ULM, Southeastern, etc. he could be successful at.
The main reason I say that though is Division II in JUCO has much less competition. LSUE most definitely needs to move up to Division I in JUCO. I’d love for him to stay at LSUE because I enjoy watching good baseball. I’ve had many friends play for him. I just think he’d have to make the jump in order to prove himself to be at an elite level in the NCAA Division I level. I even believe if he went to JUCO Division I and continued winning it would really stand out.

He’s the Athletic Director at the school. I always wonder what he got paid. He is not D-I head coach material, but he’s done great things for LSUE and the Eunice community.

Been to Galveston before. Not too crazy about it. We are going to Waco and will hit up a couple breweries, Magnolia Shop, and the Dr. Pepper Museum, walk Baylor’s campus. Other things to do there please let me know. Never been to Waco before.

My wife (no pics), myself, and our child are planning a little get away for a couple nights in Texas. Looking for a place that is relaxing and can go around and has cool things to do. Waco or Fort Worth?
re: LSUE Bengals playing in the championship series tonight
Posted by vtowntigah on 6/3/21 at 9:16 pm to redfish99
I agree. Game 1 is always most important.
Hopefully they can make a comeback in the next 3 innings. They’ve threatened to score a couple times but couldn’t finish the inning whereas Western had a big 1st inning.
I do not believe Willis could coach at high profile Division I school either. I wonder what he makes at LSUE since he’s also the Athletic Director?

LSUE Bengals playing in the championship series tonight

Congratulations to Coach Willis and the Bengals on making it to the NJCAA Division II Championship Series. They will play Western Oklahoma State tonight at 7:00 PM in Game 1 of a 3 game series.
I know he does not get a ton of attention, but Jeff Willis has been astounding as a baseball coach at LSUE. Last night he earned his 900th win as a head coach. He has sent some guys to many programs, especially LSU, that have become household names. He has also had the benefit of getting guys that did not workout at LSU to play for his program.
It’s off topic, but it’s baseball nonetheless of a school in the LSU system.

Click the link to find the game. I think you have to pay $30, but you can watch each game.

Ensninger play calling
Posted by vtowntigah on 12/20/20 at 9:43 am
We all know E is an average OC, but one of my favorite calls from yesterday was the mesh route to get Boutte open on a 3rd or 4th down. When we went for 2, I was pissed that Boutte wasn’t in the game. One thing I wish we would do more of the mesh routs/pick plays out of a tight bunch in the red zone. If you look at Brady’s sets from last year, these were most successful. Sark does a bunch of them to get Smith open. E’s got a great story and I’m glad he’s a Tiger, but we are less than creative in the red zone.

I coached against him this year and was able to see the speed and aggressiveness in live action. Kid is a playmaker and has a solid frame. He’s got breakaway speed and locked down the Coleman kid from OC twice last year. If he translates to the next level, we will be lucky to have him. He flies to the ball and makes plays.
