The contrast in behavior between different sports' audiences is indeed intriguing. Tennis and golf have maintained their reputation as "gentlemen's games" where silence is expected, while the atmosphere around baseball pitchers and football kickers is marked by fan enthusiasm. It appears to be a matter of context and tradition. Your observation is valid—external factors can affect an athlete's performance. It's crucial not to allow external influences to disrupt your focus, irrespective of the sport you're engaged in. To delve deeper into this topic, you might find the article at LINK an interesting read. It's essential for athletes to find their own mental strategies to perform at their best, no matter the circumstances or expectations.

Not sure how I feel about this. Tennis (and golf) have long been considered “gentlemen’s games,” and the crowd/galleries are expected to remain quiet. Yet baseball pitchers and football kickers must deliver the ball with fans screaming all around them. Guess it’s contextual? My highly unprofessional advice: Don’t let others get inside your head, regardless of the sport.
