My last two trips to Europe, I wore my No Bull trainers. Could wear them with shorts, but could also reasonably pass them off with nicer clothes at a nice(ish) dinner. They are weightlifting shoes, so I put a gel insole in mine for walking. They make runners, but I haven't tried them yet.

I got a pair of Allbirds for Christmas while I was in Chicago and this will be my default travel shoe from now on, for all the reasons already mentioned in the thread. I do agree that you should buy the next size up from what you think you need.

Yeah I love my CH Grand Chukkas for comfort, just picked up some AllBirds Mizzles tonight to go along with them for my upcoming trip to Amsterdam/Paris.

Pumas casual
Merrill trail shoe
Cole Han Dress loafers
Rainbow sandals

Every base covered and doesn’t take up that much room.

Four pairs? Interesting. My wife and I have been discussing if we just want to wear one pair on an upcoming trip. Sandals don't take up much, and you can wear one, so are you carrying the others in your main case?

I always wonder about walking 12k steps or more a day and what will hold up. Are they weatherproof? What if I do go hiking off road on a trail, will I have the right shoes.

Correct. I wear the bulkiest pair on the flight which is my Puma’s. Also the most comfortable.

The Merrel Trail shoe is a version of the minimalist footwear and takes up as much space as the pair of flip flops. If I am stretched for space, I leave the dress loafers at home. Sometimes those aren’t needed like for beach trips. Even so, I purchased them bc they are a bit dressy for nice dinners but also a small shoe without a ton of material.

They all fit in one compartment in my Tumi carryon along with toiletries. Remaining space is for clothes. I very rarely check baggage and routinely hit 6-7 day international trips with two carry-ons. I try to pack very efficiently.
