We are thinking about a 9 day trip for 5 people in early June to Yellowstone and hopefully Grand Tetons. For anyone who may have made this trip, looking for advice. Probably fly into Bozeman if that's the best option.

early June

it will still be chilly and there will still be a lot of snow. streams just starting to enter runoff.

mid June is always good for a freak snowstorm, the weather and the amount of snow still in the mountains could be your biggest limiter.

Fly into bozeman if you want to do a big loop and stay at different places for a few nights each. Fly into Jackson hole if you want to stay in one place and make day trips from there.

I want to see a good bit but don't want to be driving too much. Also would like to do some hiking.

I've gone a couple times. It's easy to fly into Salt Lake and drive up. About a 4hr drive to Jackson Hole through some pretty country. Do a white water rapids trip on the Snake River while in Jackson Hole. If you can stay in the park it's more convenient than staying outside the park, and a lot less driving. Grant Village and the Lake are pretty central. If you're staying outside, swap up which towns you stay in and hit the park in zones based on that: Jackson Hole, West Yellowstone, Gardiner. Buy a cheap ice chest where ever you fly into and get some sandwich materials, snacks, and drinks to keep iced down. There aren't many places to shop or eat in the park, but there are plenty of places to stop and picnic. Same with fuel, not many places inside the park so don't let the gauge get below 1/4 tank.

fwiw - Yellowstone is huge and requires a massive amount of time driving but the views are great and that the point. They have plenty of hiking in both GT and YS. Have fun, its truly amazing.
