And by nice I don't mean exorbitant, but definitely a classy joint. Walking distance to a good steakhouse if possible.

Try Prime and Provisions for Steak.

London House for the hotel.

I like the Intercontinental. Good location and really cool indoor pool. It is an older building though so the rooms are a bit smaller than more modern hotels.

If you stay in River North at The Langham or The Gwen, you can walk to Kinzie Chophouse and Bavette's. If you stay in West Loop at The Hoxton or Nobu, Swift & Sons is right there.

Three of my favorite steakhouses in the city. The hotels I referenced are very, very nice, but not sure if out of your price range.

Ok so I booked The LondonHouse. Has a nice rooftop bar ( actually voted #2 in the nation??) and is across river from The Langham. I wanted Langham, but I got a corporate discount at LondonHouse somehow, saved me 25%. I used the recommendations in here to gauge a good price and location, so thank you all.

Really good deal for that location and a new hotel. It has great reviews. If I hear from someone it sucks I've got a long time to cancel with no penalty as well.

I'll definitely hit up one of those steakhouses!

Good call. Never stayed at the hotel but I really like the rooftop bar. That location is about as ideal as I can imagine for a tourist. Very short walk to magnificent mile but also right by Grant/Millenium park.

Nothing wrong with LondonHouse. Great rooftop bar (I've been a few times at golden hour - great place to bring visitors) and, as someone said, it's an ideal spot for weekenders. Easy walk across the river into River North and Streeterville. Though it does not sound like you plan to go into the neighborhoods, State/Lake (Brown, Purple, Orange, Green, Pink) and Lake (Red) are just a few minutes walking + Washington (Blue) is just an extra couple minutes further.

Before COVID I stayed there every year due to wife's conferences. That pool is super cool.

I second this. Great location especially if you're seeing a play. Also just blocks from the Art Institute.
