I'm with you; that being said I'm taking my 7 and 2 year old over spring break. It's a great trip for this age IMO, but no substitute for Yellowstone. I look forward to some long trips in the summers when they get a little older.

Our childhoods sound eerily similar. Lol.

We did a full week loop through New England that was really cool. Did the Boston highlights. Saw the Red Sox play at Fenway. Went to both the basketball and baseball HOFs. Did a small town in Vermont and went to LL Bean. Did a hike in New Hampshire and spent several days in coastal Maine at a resort that had a lighthouse you could sleep in. Ate lobster, went whale watching, etc.

That was a good trip that felt a lot different from the South.

the New England trip is one of my favorites now
Everything is pretty close driving wise as well and so many things you can do in close proximity

Visiting my grandfather at his house in west yellowstone. So many memories. That house has now been inherited by myself, so can't wait to start those memories with my kids when they get a little older to remember.

My favorite vacations as a kid were when my parents would rent a cabin at a nice KOA campground on Toledo Bend.

Fish for bream and sacs during the day and play cards at night.

Yes, my fav by far.

that’s funny, we did the same trip and it was easily the most memorable.
Boston sights, Red Sox, Maine, rafting, lobsters...the whole thing

so much fun

when we were little we went to Calloway gardens in Georgia a couple of times and that was also fun. Back then FSU students did a circus at the park and every day we would go to circus class and learn trapeze, etc which when you are ten and there’s a pretty blonde coed helping you into a harness was pretty damn cool

What's the best way to do this trip? Just fly up and rent a car and then hop from one hotel/airbnb to the next on your route?

Things have changed now but used to love going to Six Flags in ATL. Parents would ask every year where I wanted to go and that was always my answer . They got tired of it and we had to go their places some
