United? We're scheduled to make that trip in June ourselves. Decent flights otherwise?

The number of mouth breathers who immediately try to rush the agents instead of getting on the app and doing everything yourself is amazing. I won’t tell them otherwise though because it makes my rescheduling much easier.

Update- Delta proactively sent an email offering 5,000 miles for the cancellation. They also noted if I had hotel, meal, or transportation expenses to submit receipts and they would be reimbursed. Considering they give 5,000 miles for a bag delayed more than 20 minutes, I may reach out and ask for 10,000 miles considering the inconvenience of changing airports and leaving 3.5 hrs earlier than expected.

That and the fact that 5,000 SkyPesos are worth about $0.12

We got diverted to Dublin a few weeks ago. Sat there for a few hours and proceeded to JFK from FCO. 10 hour flight turned into 14 ish hours onboard. Delta sent 20k miles each and told us to keep receipts for taxis, food and hotels. Decided to spoil ourselves and check into nice hotel in nyc and flew out the next day direct to Nola from
LGA. Sent in our receipts and they reimbursed 450 which they said was their max for accommodations. All in all a great nights sleep and delicious American breakfast cost us about 200$. Very easy and quick process. I did use my delta Amex for the trip but didn’t feel like going through the hassle Of making a claim for delay or missed flights.

You must have really splurged to spend $650+ for one night in NYC!

Have you looked at hotel prices there recently? They’re crazy. Hotel was about 480ish. We had two Uber rides to airports and we ate once. Hotel night reception was so clueless as to why someone would book a room at 11 pm in the Fidi. When we explained where we came from they sent free room service breakfasts and ended up comping stuff out of the mini bar.

I'm not enamored of their customer service, but I would imagine that is with any airline. Planes were newish, and amenities nice. On first transatlantic leg, my screen was messed up - was blinking like a strobe, and they couldn't get it turned off, the staff was very little help (maybe really nothing they could do) and not really apologetic. Lucikily had an empty seat nearby that I moved to.
I thought their counter operation in Milan coming home was ineffecient and chaotic, but I hear that is just how it is in Milan Malpensa.

If $450 was their max for accommodations I don't see why they couldn't reimburse your Uber rides outside of that.
If the room service breakfast was free you should only be out $30ish bucks before tip

Please never try to check in at Istanbul, on any airline. You will have a coronary unless you understand that you're *never* getting served unless you act like an a-hole and shove your way around.
