What are some honeymoon suggestions from the Travel Board?

Fiance and I are mid to late 20's. We are definitely wanting to go somewhere on the coast (not the gulf coast). I'm leaning towards the Pacific. We have heard great things about Fiji.

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Also, any tips on getting the best deal / rate? Travel agent, etc.?

This will be in July, FYI

What would your budget be roughly? That makes a huge difference.

I'm in the same boat. July wedding and not sure on honeymoon yet, but leaning beach.

Not very budget restricted, but also not about to drop $20K.

Any thoughts on Bermuda or South Africa? Wedding is east coast, so not sure I want to fly to Hawaii and definitely not Maldives/Fiji.

ETA - all signs point to Caribbean being too miserably hot during July.

If you're thinking about going to the Asian Pacific you can likely find flights for under $800, especially into Bangkok. So you have a lot of options if you aren't fixated on Fiji, either by heading to the Thai islands (Gulf of Thailand side is better that time of year than Andaman), or other locales since BKK airport connects everywhere.

Thailand is probably the most popular spot I am seeing for honeymoons apart from the typical Mexico/Hawaii/Caribbean recommendations.

I think I have settled on the Italian coast for mine next OCT

Personally I'd downvote Thailand for a Honeymoon destination. Place is amazing for a trip no doubt but for me its too crowded with tourists to be a honeymoon destination.

OP - Fiji would be really cool. Just make sure you don't waste your time in Suva or Nadi and head to the remote Northern islands asap.

Heading to South Africa in March. I think it could be a great honeymoon destination. We're doing just Cape Town and Sabi Sands (Kruger).

Outside of Cape Town we're staying in the wine country area which fits the bill. Outside of Sabi Sands safari there are some nature spots around Blyde River Canyon that look really cool. Something to investigate for sure.

I'll probably do a write up about it once we come back. July supposedly is a great time to safari in South Africa.

This can be somewhat avoidable. We stayed on Ko Yao Noi which isn't that heavily developed and boated out to other locations. That might split the baby enough if crowds are a concern.

Not sure what the equivalent would be on the Gulf of Thailand side though. But as mentioned, lots of options in Asia that don't require Thailand.

Not sure exactly which "Italian coast" you plan to visit, but know that October is pretty late in the season. Some hotels and many attractions close completely, starting in mid-October. Le Sirenuse in Posi closes for the season on October 30. So choose your destination carefully, and know that lots of seaside stuff isn't open year-round.

Nice, I would really appreciate a trip review when you get back.

We're thinking about South Africa for a honeymoon next year. We were originally planning on Bora Bora, but i feel like we'd get bored. Something more active would suit us better.

Sabi sands looks nice. We were thinking Sanbona instead due to how much closer it is to Cape Town

Went to Bermuda for my honeymoon in August a few years ago. Stayed at The Reefs and it was great. The island is nicer than most of the Caribbean islands.

Depends on what you’re looking to do.

You can spend a week at Jumeirah Vittaveli in the Maldives for about 8k including flights and an over-water villa. Takes 2 days each way to travel so you would need almost 2 weeks. Not much to do other than chill on the beach and have sexy time. I highly recommend this resort.

If you’re looking to party, maybe check out something in Bali. You can live like a king for about 5k for a week.

No problem, will do my best.

We have a direct 3 hour flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit airport on South African, then it about an hour and a half drive or so to the lodge. Many of the Sabi Sands lodges have their own airstrips to fly in/out of back to Jo'burg. Just an FYI. Our lodge has one in fact, but our timing makes it unusable for our purposes because the flights are at set times of course. You can also charter a plane which is expensive, but not as expensive as you'd think if you had a group of 6 or so.

We did two weeks in Bali for our honeymoon. It was incredible. But we didn't "party"

IK've been to Fiji. I'd recommend the Yasawa Islands which is where the film The Blue Lagoon was filmed. There are two ways to do it. There's now one resort on the islands which is quite expensive. The other way is to do a cruise through Blue Lagoon Cruises. Don't poo poo the cruise idea. It's not what you think of when you think of a Caribbean Cruise. They are small ships and generally are loaded with Aussies and New Zealanders and we had interesting things to do every day. It's worth at least looking at.

2 weeks for Maldives? You'd die of boredom! All the resorts there are on their own Atoll and you have to private jet/boat to them. So there is nothing to do outside of the resort.

Also take a look at Seychelles and Mauritius which are islands off of Africa in the Indian Ocean. Takes a while to get to but once you are there they are pretty reasonable as far as $$ go and extremely beautiful. They aren't quite Bora Bora/Maldives and you can actually go around the islands exploring.

We were going to Vieques, Puerto Rico this past October for ours. Those plans got canceled.

Then we decided to go to Sonoma, instead. We had to evacuate after less than 24 hours.

So, I'll refrain from making any suggestions.

Not suggesting anyone go for two weeks. If you plan to stay for a week, you will need 4 travel days, so plan to be off work, away from home, etc, for about two weeks. Took a trip there with the wife a couple years ago and by day 3 I was bored out of my mind! All the remote islands are going to be that way...Bora Bora, Fiji, Maldives...

Cotswolds, England.

It will test your love with wrong side of the road driving, no named streets, warm beer, and waiters from eastern European countries...

But.. the history and beauty of the area is surreal. From Roman villas c. 340 AD to Victorian homes... to fricking fences older than the Columbus' journey.. enjoy the peace and food
