Colorado is also probably the best road trip vacation state we have. Next month we are flying in/out of Denver and going to Dillon, Vail, Glenwood Springs, crested butte and Buena vista. An easy loop with something different at every stop.

BV is our favorite place in CO

If Ouray is good, then go out of your way to make a visit there.
Hiking the perimeter trail is great, two awesome waterfalls to see. The town is small, and you can walk everywhere. The pool on the north end of the town is heated with natural spring water. There's mines you can tour. The jeep tour up the mountain towards Telluride is breathtaking.

All of this. Ouray is so special. The fires did not effect the town, but they are hurting because tourism took a huge hit.

Did the perimeter trail last year and a guy lost his balance and fell about 150 feet. We walked up a few minutes after and his girlfriend flagged us down. I had to call and send in our coordinates to mountain rescue and they arrived within 45 minutes. Seeing them run up the mountain with all their gear was so impressive. The guy was heli-vaced to the hospital in Montrose.

Last summer we did 32 days. Denver > BV > Durango > Ouray > Aspen

Thanks. We are doing boulder on Saturday I think. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

We are with our three kids under 5.

What about Grand Lake on the southwest side of RMNP?

I really like Estes on the other side as far as a town to visit.

Went a few years ago with the family and our rafting guide said Granby was his new favorite place to hang out. That’s all I got.
