UPDATE: New Orleans trip; seventh ward; safe and unsafe areas?

Going to a concert with the girlfriend. We currently have a hotel booked at the southern edge of the seventh ward, just 2-3 blocks from I-10. It's the Tremes on Ursulines Avenue.
As I understand, the seventh ward (or at least the northern section or heart of it) is not the safest place for a hotel for a couple nights. The plan is to walk straight to I-10, then to our destination, and then we'll Uber back at night.
Not interested in the GF or myself being another statistic. Is that close enough to the interstate/"safe" areas, or should we eat any costs of cancelling the room and get another place?
UPDATE:
So, after looking at more reviews, discovering that the Treme was in the Treme-Lafitte area (who'd have thought?) and not the lower seventh ward, and talking with family familiar with the area, the girlfriend and I stayed at the place.
1) We still weren't going to step foot out of the hotel at night. 2) We parked our vehicle directly under the flood light at the front door to discourage ours being vandalized. 3) Uber had no problem getting us from there in the day or dropping us off at night. 4) It's fine to walk from there to the French Quarter during the day. 5) The place was nice. Nice rooms, nice staff, room service, place was clean, had ice and breakfast (only on weekend, though), guests weren't sketchy, etc. 6) I noticed: about three churches on blocks surrounding us, a school, a kid's new playground, people comfortable enough to leave ice chests and grills unchained on front porches.
Conclusion: thank you all for your advice; however, it seems the Treme-Lafitte area is fine (at least within three blocks north of I-10) and so was the hotel.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
That certainly wouldn't be where I would want to stay.
If you take Ubers or taxis and they drop you off in front of the hotel you'll most likely be fine. It's not the worst neighborhood in New Orleans but it is certainly not a great one and DEFINITELY not one I would be walking around in at 1 in the morning personally.
Is the concert at the Mahalia Jackson?

It's Bayou Country Superfest at the Superdome. We'd be going straight to I-10 on our way out in the daylight on foot, and we would NOT be going anywhere on foot after dark.
The idea is taxi's/Ubers would take us right to the gates of the hotel after the shows Saturday and Sunday. Again, it's three blocks north of I-10. I see a playground between there and the hotel, FWIW.
Edit: with this much indecision, I'm thinking just find another place.

the real question you should be asking yourself is, would you rather save $200 or possibly be murdered? or spend the extra money and maybe get murdered?
$200 can buy a lot of scratch offs. tough call.

Walking along I-10 or under I-10 is not the best idea

You can also checkout Airbnb and VRBO.
The whitney hotel looks like it has rooms for 192 a night. Nice hotel and this weekend the rates are sky high, and believe it or not that is cheaper than most for this weekend.

My brother rented a house here for his bachelor party. Week previous someone got knifed to death and folded in a trash can a block away from where we were. Do not go there.

This it?
Empress Hotel
I was trying to figure out where the hell a hotel would be in that area, and ran across this shithole. It looks very "European" and otherwise sketchy as hell.

Oh shite. That make the Empress look luxurious.

Anyone ever stay at a B&B called Evangeline arts house. It’s uptown off Hickory street 2 blocks from S. Carrollton. Is this a somewhat safe area?

Sounds pretty convenient to Madigans. Never heard of it, though.

Please find another place if you want to live

Is that area ok or sketchy?

It's fine around Carrollton. It starts heading into Hollygrove after a few blocks, though.

The first couple of blocks upriver of Carrollton are fine, but as you edge into the Leonidas neighborhood, it goes downhill pretty quick. I drive through there regularly during daylight hours, it's not open warfare in the streets then. But I wouldn't stumble around after dark, depending on how far it is from Carrollton.
Someone was shot this AM at 8:19 on Eagle, between Hickory St and Green St: LINK It was the second murder in 30 minutes (the other one was in St. Roch area).
