Cebu, Phillippines

Canyoneering in and out of the water flowing through the mountains of Barangay Matutinao, Badian ending with a 50' jump from those falls into the water below then lunch along side the water was one of the greatest days of my life.

(google search pic because I don't feel like getting out my hard drive)

Was on a hiking trip last fall that includes McCall Idaho. Beautiful little lakeside resort town, amazing views . Never heard of it till I rolled in.

I’ll second the Newberg, Oregon recommendation. You can stay anywhere in the Willamette Valley. The wine is great! Wolves and Peoples Brewery is really cool. The Spruce Goose is housed 30 minutes away in McMinnville. The scenic coast is about an hour away. There is also the Tillamook cheese factory tour near the coast. Great area of the country to spend some time. If you fly into Portland you’ll pass through that cesspool getting to all the beautiful areas. I wouldn’t suggest even stopping for a sandwich there.

Only a few mentions of Quebec City. It is an awesome taste of Europe on this side of the Ocean and is a good mix of history, old town areas, and some unique natural beauty with the St Lawrence and waterfalls in the area. The border is easy to cross and it can be easily combined with a Maine/Vermont trip. Fall would be an ideal time to do a car rental trip.

Another part of France that doesn't get much play is Alsace. Specifically, the route du vin and area north of Colmar is awesome. Little known fact is the large number of Michelin-starred restaurants in the region. The Vogues area cool to hike around and the close nature of all of the medieval towns (Ribeauville, Riquewhir, hunawihr, etc) make it an ideal place for three or four nights minimum to walk from vineyard to vineyard. They have a great reputation for wine (mostly Riesling/Gewurtz) but have some really good cremants as well. Strasbourg and Stuttgart make ideal entry points.
