Just got back a week ago. We stayed at a resort in Grace Bay, so I can’t tell you much about the island outside of the resort or beach.

We went to a bar, a grocery store and some shops near the resort on our one outing. Stuff there is Uber expensive. Like $20 for a 6 pack of Coors light and $12 for a box of cereal. The resort was the way to go price wise IMO.

Water and beaches are amazing. Snorkeling is great. Iguana island and Noah’s arc boat stop are fun places. You can rent little go carts and tour the island. We didn’t do that, but it was offered by our resort. I saw there is a place on the south side of the island that you can go horseback riding and they go in the water with you.

Lots of boat-paragliding. I wanted to do a fishing trip, but it was pricy unless you have a decent sized group.

Thank you for sharing. To those wanting to rent these keep in mind that you drive on the other side of the road and there are a lot of roundabouts. I would not allow kids to drive them anywhere near the road.

Yes, and some areas, like the main road coming from the airport and near the school, have tons of traffic. And no red lights or anything, just roundabouts and intersections.

There aren’t any taxi cabs either. It’s all vans and you may be riding with multiple groups if you take one. Not always, but sometimes.

The car situation is interesting too. Some steering wheels are on the right, some on the left.

Helpful hint for airport security. You can pay for Fast Track to expedite arrival or departure. We didn’t get it or need it for arrival, but we paid for it for departure. We went through security in about 5 minutes. Was worth it for the departure as security was kind of a shitshow.

It’s odd that I don’t recall seeing many gold carts around. I also can’t imagine driving a golf cart all around the island.

They still require vaccinations. Had to present paperwork to get on the plane. That was two weeks ago.

No golf carts. Go carts which are even worse.

Ha. I think I started drinking early yesterday. Yes, you’re right, those are worse.

I just feel like you’re limiting your experience in Turks if you don’t have a car. At least for a day or so, depending on the length of your stay.

Yeah I’ve heard they still require vax proof but at what point do they require boosters or another round of shots?

I’ve been twice and going back in June. We have always stayed at Beaches Resort. It’s pricy, but worth it. Great food and drinks. Amazing beaches. Snorkel right off the beach in marine park.

I caught a monster bone fish on a guided trip.

Do you have kids because as nice as it is I’d only stay at Beaches if I had kids with me.

This. Don’t stay at an AI resort in Provo… too many great restaurants to choose from. This isn’t DR or Jamaica.

It’s our favorite vacation destination. If money were no issue, I’d be down there 4x a year (direct flights from CLT make it so easy).

Just got back today and it was amazing. I will post a longer review once I get all the pictures uploaded. I will say get a car while you are down there as it made it a lot easier to explore the island.

Our resort has bikes you can use. Would that be easy to get around?

Get around to where is the question. I don't find Turks to be very bike-friendly to be honest. Our resort also has bikes, and we have used them, but only for very limited purposes.

If you are just going nearby your hotel/house a bike should be okay. But for us, a car was a better option. We were able to get from one end of the island and it was much easier than getting a cab.

We leave on the 21st and still haven't decided on transportation. I am terrified of the UK driving thing.

It really isn't difficult. Just pay attention to roundabouts.
