Friend,
We tried that Commanders once. There was a good reason it stayed open for such a short time. It did not feel or taste like Commanders.
We were east of Destin recently and had a marvelous meal at Dewey’s, the real one. The shrimp are as good as they always are. The colossal portion is now $28 and they give significantly less fried potatoes with the basket, which is fine, because their French fried potatoes really are not very good. It should be noted that they do not salt their food, and instead, leave salting to the customer. Dewey’s now also charges a 3% credit card fee.
The Donut Hole is experiencing the post -summer doldrums. When we visited in the afternoon, every donut and type of cake was still available. As I have aged, I typically get a slice of strawberry cake and an Oreo slice rather than donuts.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

There are, to my knowledge, two Dewey's locations. Both are in Destin, the original being about as far "west" in Destin as you can get.

Friend,
I ate good fried mullet once in Destin, I don’t know if that’s a thing any more. All of that area has become so overdeveloped and crowded I just stay on I-10 till 331 on the way to Panama City.
Have you ever been to the University of the South in Tennessee? A beautiful Anglican Campus.
I didn’t realize you were a Calvinist? Thank you for recommending The Confessions of St Augustine a few years back.
