Here are the details, including cost

Basically...it's a hard ticket event with access to Toy Story Land and Breakfast included and in my opinion, it's very, very, very worth it.

Here is a breakdown of what we were able to accomplish.

6:52 drop off at Hollywood Studios
7am Through bag check got wristband and inside a park
7:10 lined up near the Chinese Theater after grabbing a snack from commissary (fruit, a pastry and some coffee..we’re going to eat breakfast later)
7:15 started walking to the land
7:20 arrived at slinky
7:23 boarded the coaster
7:27 entered slinky again
7:31 announced slinky dog was down
7:34 is running again
7:43 arrived at Toy Story after a few pics
7:55 walked out of toy story
7:58 Arrived at alien swirling saucers
8:02 on the ride
8:04 done with swirling saucers
8:07 back at slinky dog (literally no wait this time)
8:16 After a few pictures we were back at slinky dog Dash at 8:16 AM
8:23 Yep, back at slinky dog And my wife went to get in line for the picture and meet and greet with Woody and Jessie
By 8:36 we took our pics with Buzz and the large Woody statue
8:40 Back at slinky dog for one last ride
8:49 started walking to rock N roller coaster
8:56 arrived at Rock N Roller Coaster (FP+ line not open app everyone used standby line. No pre-show, just walked right through with no wait)
9:05 Back in the rock n roller coaster gift shop and done with the ride.

We took an uber from Saratoga Springs and were picked up at 6:35 am.

After arriving and entering the park we went to Commissary to grab a quick snack and coffee and line up to enter Toy Story Land knowing we would return later for a bigger breakfast.

I grabbed some fruit and a couple of pastries with a cup of coffee to eat while in line waiting to enter Toy Story Land

This is the line in front of us waiting near the Chinese Theater after our snack waiting to enter Toy Story Land..unlike regular rope drop guests at this event DO use the ramp instead of the steps to go down near Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Snapshot of what the land looks like most of the time DURING the event

Coffee and water near Woody's Lunch Box throughout the event

8am and Alien's Swirling Saucers had a posted 5 min wait...it was a walk-on

Slinky Dog Dash at 8 am...it was basically a walk-on

The longest wait we encountered for Slinky Dog was the first time we rode it and we maybe waited 5 minutes

Lastly..the food. Once we did make it back to eat we were very pleased with the food. It's all you can eat so feel free to order more then one entree. The egg bowl was the most filling but the kids donut/cronut and sweet potato tater tots were awesome too. We were very pleased with the food.

Salmon and Capers

Egg Bowl

Avocado Smash Toast

Kids chicken, cronut and sweet potato

Lastly...when we were leaving Toy Story Land...this was the crowd coming in. Beating this crowd is undoubtedly what makes it worth it. Hitting this even turns Hollywood Studios into LESS than a half day park and really open your FP+ up for other attractions and parks making touring so much easier.

We rode Slinky Dog Dash 7 times, Toy Story Midway Mania 3 times, and Alien Swirling Saucers once during the event. We also met some characters. IMO, the breakfast (had the Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Eggs Bowl) was better at the Toy Story Land EMM than at the Fantasyland EMM, but obviously there are more rides open at the Fantasyland EMM event.

Again, just my opinion, but Early Morning Magic and the Disney After Hours events are completely worth it if you can afford it. We'll never go to Disney again without purchasing tickets to a couple of these events, especially if it's during a busier time of year.

Many disagree but I’ve always thought of it as a half day as well. With Star Wars opening next summer EMM + FP will still only be a half day for us.

If you enjoyed it and it was worth it to you, that's all that matters. Personally there is no way I'd pay $80 for breakfast and basically 2 hours to ride 3 or 4 rides. But I'm sure they have enough customers they don't need people like me.

Last year we did everything in HS by 1:00 including the Beauty and Beast and Little Mermaid shows. We did breakfast inside before park opened so we were first in line for Toy Story. Next year it’ll be the busiest park with the 2 newest area attractions. I even skipped it totally our last trip because it wasn’t worth it until Toy Story land opened.

I’ve never been one to pay for these early morning specials because I always go when it’s not as crowded or have a great plan to beat the system and maximize fast passes. But of all the early morning extra ticket events this one looks the best because of the value and maximizing your day by avoiding the busiest area while the park is open.

We are doing this with our granddaughters in March. Where was the included breakfast? At a dining location inside or outside of Toy Story Land? Disney says the breakfast is available until 10 AM. So you were able to ride Rock n Roller right at park opening and then have breakfast? We are planning to spend half a day in the Studios and saving our Fast Pass selections for MK in the evening. Thanks for the info and pictures of your Early Morning Magic experience.

I would agree if thats all the $80 yielded. The true value of these events is hard to judge unless you include the benefits you receive from not having to pay as much attn to this land (or park in the case of Magic Kingdom) because you can do so much more during these extra events. Ive always been willing to pay for flexibility (renting deluxe villas at DVC resorts rather than renting a moderate through Disney so I can walk to/from a park(s), park hoppers or an annual pass are non-negotiable, etc)

If all I felt like I got was the land for two hours and the breakfast, I agree it would be hard to justify it but I think there are other things you get for the cost as well which carry alot of value. Not having to worry about TSL fastpasses and not dedicating another 1/2 day (or more) to the park is worth something IMO.

For a while, I agreed with your sentiment and then I started reading the reviews. I was hesitant because I just didnt see how the mat would work.

Then I broke it down to $20 for breakfast and roughly $5 per attraction at Toy Story Land. $60 per person to be done with Hollywood Studios by 11 am having done The top 6 attractions in that park so it kind of broke down to about $4 per attraction.

Slinky Dog = 7 times
Star Tours = twice
Rock n Roller Coaster = twice
Tower of Terror = Once
Toy Stry Mania = Twice
Aliens Swirling Saucers = Once

Plus we met Buzz and had other pictures taken in the land.

Definitely not worth it for those on more of a fixed/rigid budget but DEFINITELY worth swapping out a table service for a quick service or two and or buying less souvenirs for.

Officially they are saying late fall, which would be as late as like Dec 30. Most people think it be very late December.

have some exciting news to share today. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in summer 2019 at Disneyland Resort and in late fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort

Galaxies Edge is going to change the way Disney Theme parks are priced for a long time. I'd say until AT LEAST a year after WDW's 50th anniversary say goodbye to free dining, say goodbye to 25% room only discounts, be ready for even more tiered pricing in regards to certain days and parks costing more, etc.

The a la carte add ons have been here and there for a while now and Disney has been paying for years with what works and what doesnt (dessert parties, dinner/dining packages, now extra magic events, etc). These are here to stay and will be an important way to beat the crowds for the next 5+ years.

There are no "slow" times anymore. When the parks are slow, they reduce capacity and it jacks up wait times. So they charge more per ticket, reduce overall attendance, cut labor, save on repairs/maintenance and increase park revenue. If you look at it from 2018 and whats expected for 2019 the summer now carries less avg wait times than January and with the current promotions of free dining and the room only offer, the pricing is dropping ALOT too. Even for a slightly higher room/package you get the addition of both water parks being open and normal operating hours at Magic Kingdon and Hollywood Studios at least 2=3 hours past what they are now

ABC Comissary

Yes, you can come as go as you please and eat as much or as little as you want on each stop and thats exactly what we did. Stopped in first for a very light snack then went back at about 9:45 for a full breakfast. At 10am they stop serving the plate food and start picking up the tables that had the continental items.

This is perfect for that. 100% agree thats the best way to use this o your advantage.

We were out of HS by 11 am with a full stomach and no need for lunch. We went over and spent the rest of the day a Epcot and stayed until the end of Illuminations.

Touche and well said.

There's generally 3 kinds of Disney visitors: The hardcore that go all the time, the casual that go every year or 3, and then the rare visitor. I see these deals being worth it for everyone but the middle group.

I'm the middle group. We go maybe once a year for a long weekend. I buy 4 tickets as a florida resident for a reduced rate. There's plenty of things for me to do to fill up a day in each park.

While HS may be a "half day" park for some, its a full day for me as I don't mind taking it very easy one day and not rushing the whole day our entire trip. Plus I still have little kids so they have a ton of little kid stuff I know adults or older kids wouldn't step foot in.

My only issue is that Disney could increase their hours overall here, but instead are charging extra for early and late times. Its moving to where the park will be open for 8 hours daily for normal tickets and then you can pay extra daily for early morning and late stays.

I've never understood the current 1 hour extra magic hours. I could see them going to something like this for only on site guests and they can pay something like $20 extra per day for 2-3 hours. That would be more along what I'd agree with.

Thats kind of what they did with the E Tickets back in the day and it was great...I just think those days are long behind us. With the way they are controlling capacity now they have days where the overall crowd level is a 2/10 yielding wait times the same as when the overall crowds are 7/10. My disney budget is more fixed than ways I am going to spend it. I may end up spending more on tickets but I'll send less on clothing, dining, at Disney Springs, etc.

This year we "saved money" by opting for the annual pass (two trips equalling 15 nights) so Im still going to end p probably spending the same amount butI', just going to spend it different ways.

Ill also add that these hard ticket events are a much better fit for those on short trips . This was our first time seeing TSL and we on;y had 4 days with one of them being Marathon Sunday and the Saints game (so it was kind of a wash).

How do the early morning events work as far as controlling you from entering the rest of the park when it opens? As far as ticketing goes? I guess what makes me mad is why can’t they have a deal where A ticket + B ticket = C cost and not A+B? If I buy a regular park ticket for $60 or $100 I don’t see the value in paying $80 more for $140-180 total. Now if they gave you a 50% discount for one that is much better.

The problem I think is too many people would do that and they don’t need to do that in order to hit their quota. So me as a cheap skate is stuck looking in the window.

Eta: now the times this does make sense is for people going for 4+ days and are interested in doing one park for a partial day and then relaxing by the pool or playing golf or whatever. You go do 2 parks then do this on the 3rd day to relax then go do 2 more full days of parks.

Eta2: and that’s where Disney has the dads by the balls. Hey dad’s, come pay us $80 for 3 hours and then you have to figure out something else to do that day so you’ll come and pay us more money to play golf, rent a boat, or blow it some other way. We love you though.

Our annual passes expire in April and I really want to renew since you get a nice discount for renewing but that puts us having annual passes during such an insane year and I want to avoid Star Wars for a while. We also can only go during school vacations since we are both in education. I am scared to even look at prices for Christmas this year and I wouldn't be surprised if most DVC rentals have been snatched up.

Speaking of extra ticketed events. I will never do the Christmas Party again. 2017 was amazing, did almost everything multiple times and it was worth every penny. This year we got maybe half of what we did last year and it was obvious they greatly increased the amount of tickets they sold. Not at all worth the extra money.

Nice post. Do you need park hoppers to leave and head to another park that same day?

We are booked for the 2nd week of Christmas, and prices are substantially more this year than three years ago. Of course, it could just be that they were already higher. And the hotel rooms in the resorts are slim pickens in December.

I'm scared that we're going to be competing with Star Wars nation.

We just wanted to go on a family vacation while the kids are still young and will appreciate the characters.

Yes that requires a park hopper. We do it every other trip and that works for us. Last time we did Epcot a few nights for dinner which we loved and I can do HS and AK in a half day with a good plan so I go back to MK after that. Next time it’s gonna be a lot of people with us so planning park hoppers just seems like a nightmare.

So to do the early events are you saying you need a normal park ticket for that day also? Can you not do the early event at one park then go to another park at 10 with a non park hopper?
