Trying to decide which area to vacation this summer. Found a beach house in each that fits our needs. Is one significantly better than the other? Any input would be greatly appreciated. We will have three small children and a ten year old.

St. Pete/Tampa

The beaches are better closer to Sarasota.

Go to Tarpon Springs from Tampa to eat at the Rusty Bellie waterfront grill.

St Pete

I lived there, and I go to Miami often. I prefer Miami. But most people would not, and with children, I think you would prefer St Pete. The beaches are nicer towards Sarasota though.

Kind of reminds me of what 30A was 20 years ago.

With kids, ST. Pete and surrounding areas are probably gonna be more suitable than Miami/Ft Lauderdale. Even though I prefer Ft. Lauderdale, I’m in my 20’s and like to bar hop (probably not what you’ll be into), but Tampa area can be brutally hot in the summer, Ft Lauderdale/Miami is more breezy imo.

So the house we ended up booking is actually in North Reddington Beach. It's right on the beach, whereas the one in Fort Lauderdale was about 100 yards away. Flights were similar in price to both places, so that wasn't a deal breaker. But the Rays are in town vs. the Yankees for a three game series the week we are there. Hopefully they are allowing fans in the stand by then.

Thanks for the input!

Heading down to St. Pete beach next week, how'd your trip turn out? Any places you'd recommend to eat?

Try to get into Bern’s in Tampa. It may be a long shot a week out, though.

Good choice

We’re looking at going this same week. I want to go see the Rays Yankees on Tuesday and the Rays-Red sox on Friday
