I’m still trying to get my wife to go along with the place I like on Peter Bay with a private beach. Apartment isn’t as nice as some that she’s found but, she’s looking at Cruz Bay or Coral Bay areas. What are you guys’ opinions. Have a private walk down to Peter Bay Beach/Lil Cinammon Beach with a million dollar view from the apartment. OR Not have the seclusion and have to drive everywhere including beaches but have a beautiful villa with private pool and decent views?

Honestly there aren’t a lot of people on the island normally and there are even less now. I would and do stay in Cruz Bay where I can walk to eat. That does not happen in Coral Bay and there’s no beach there. Rocky side of the island.

I really don’t want to stay in Coral Bay but, I’d rather stay there than Cruz Bay because of the people and personally Coral Bay looks to have better views. I want relaxation. I don’t want to drive to all the beaches if I have a private walk to Peter Bay Beach. My wife is driving me crazy with this trip to the point I’m ready to throw my hands up and say you pick or we don’t go at all.

I went to St.John this past Thanksgiving and the beaches were packed. You have to get up early and get to the beach just to find a place to park. Sounds like Peter Bay Beach may be the ticket.
Also, we had to make reservations to most all of the restaurants in Cruz Bay.

Probably an outlier because of the holiday. I've had friends there eveery month since June and most reports are of having the beaches mostly to themselves.

We booked the apartment on Peter Bay. The problem I’m finding now is it appears that all of the flights I’ve been looking at are not showing and the ones that are showing are quite a bit more than they have been costing. I’m going to check back tomorrow and see if I find anything cheaper.

We’re renting a cheap to get around the island. I’ve read where there are some places on St Thomas that allow you to take the vehicle to St John but not vice versa. We’re thinking it would be better to rent a Jeep in St Thomas to put our luggage in and buy groceries, snacks, and liquor since its supposed to be cheaper on St Thomas. Is this true or a good idea? The only downside I see is not having a place to park in Cruz Bay at one of the Jeep rental places. If I don’t rent on St John, how is the parking situation on St John?

I have not rented a jeep on St.Thomas mainly because of the car ferry. The car ferry is about an hour ordeal one way.
You can rent space at Slim Man's parking lot right on Cruz Bay by the day or the week. Slim Man's also rents Jeeps. Or you could rent a Jeep at Sutton's and get free parking also on Cruz Bay.

There are car rentals on St. John and the only parking issue I have ever seen on the island is at the beach parking lots at times. Otherwise parking is not an issue.
As for shopping I haven't found prices to be unreasonable at all for groceries and supplies and I'd much prefer to give Star Market my business locally than shop at St. Thomas.

We are 4 weeks out and are trying to get all of our stuff together? We’ll probably go somewhere nice to eat the night of our anniversary. Do any of you guys have any recommendations? Also, I’ve read a lot about dress codes online for the nicer restaurants and it seems that they’re pretty laid back. Would I look out of place with a pair of jeans, a nice button up shirt, and some dress shoes? Any other tips or advice that anyone may have is appreciated.

You’ll be fine with that and could get by with shorts and a polo. If Extra Virgin is back open that is where I would eat that meal.
Just checked. They are open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner. The smoked beef short ribs are ridiculous as is the rest of the menu. I’d get a reservation.

I appreciate the recommendation. My wife actually mentioned them so that probably means that’s where she wants to go.

I'd say with ZoZo's closed it's the best restaurant on the island.

Morgan's Mango is a really nice place also. Lovango Resort and Beach Club is now open so you may want to take a boat ride over there.
I would definitely make reservations at any restaurant for dining at night.

pack your most raggedy arse holey shirt and sit at Skinny Legs.

Skinny Legs is awesome. We went there right after they reopened after Irma and they were so happy to see us.

We’re probably going to make it over there one of the days we’re there. We’re looking for some places that have good live music where we can drink and watch the sunset after a day at the beach. Not really looking for the college aged spring break type of vibe but, a few places that we can go hangout either before or after dinner.

Not sure you're going to get that. They're fairly serious about COVID down there. Beach Bar would be the place for live music but the schedule is very light.

I agree. It’s our favorite restaurant for overall St John laid back atmosphere. We typically stay around Coral. Can’t wait to go back.
