We like to do 2 days skiing, 1 day for activities, and then 2 more days of skiing. Gives you a recovery day and allows for you to spend some real quality time together.

I’m just trying to find a ski resort with more to offer outside of skiing and the t-shirt shopping (Breck).
I can understand that. Too many ski resorts have gone for the low-quality souvenir merch play. But like another poster has said, you gotta find a town and not just a ski resort with the main street.

Stayin the kitchen and make meals for the family?

These are quality choices. I hope you have a great trip!

You will be very pleased with Aspen. The skiing is great too. Snowmass offers a lot of terrain, and lots of ski in/out condos and options for lodging. Highlands are great as well for more experienced skiers.

Whistler is on our list as well - but I also want to go during summer months and knock out some hikes. Torn on spending the money for a ski trip or summer trip - but either way we will get there in the next 2-3 years.

We are big Salt Lake fans. You can easily stay downtown and drive to either Park City, Alta, or Snowbird to ski. There's tons of things for her to do in Salt Lake while the rest of you ski. We did this recently and it was great.

If your wife can’t have fun at breck, then I pity your life, perfect mountain town... guess you could do the Hyatt at beaver creek... she wouldn’t have to leave resort or just stroll to shops. But mostly i think your wife sucks, and I would never go skiing with my wife if this was her attitude

Breck use to be a perfect mountain town, now its a bunch of T-shirt shops and a handful of decent restaurants.

Don't pity my life, we travel all over the world, she just doesn't like to ski. She would prefer hiking in the summer than skiing in the winter.

Unfortunately, not enough to my liking, but seriously, I see a sonic meet up in your future. Did they teach you to be a giant douche in PA school or does that just come naturally?

I do expect Aspen has what you’re looking for. But,I have just a little pushback concerning Breck as a T shirt venue.

It’s our home base by choice for over 20 years. Breck is a real town with a real Main Street that offers family fun, shopping and dining during all seasons. There are coffee shops and spas galore, if that’s one’s kick. There’s a great arts scene. There’s the highest distillery in the world available for tour, and it sports a high end chef putting out a great tapas menu, to boot.

Frisco, sporting another great Main Street , is ten minutes away. It’s a great option for another fun day off the slopes.

And , there’s weed if that tickles one’s fancy.

....there’s weed....

...weed...

And there’s tremendous terrain at and around Breck. Hell, Breck has it all. And the Peak 8 base has been completely remodeled for this year. Can’t wait to check it out.

Rant over,

I actually enjoy Breck. Growing up, (back when there was only peaks 8,9,10) it was the only place we would ever go. The layout of the mountain is hard to beat.

Erics, Briar Rose and Hearthstone are some of my favorites, but you cant argue that Main St hasn't become a T-Shirt hub.

There are plenty of things we do off the slopes, I just don't think its the best place for a non-skier and that's what I was inquiring about. The wife does more than shop, spa, etc. but being that this isn't the OT I figured I could put that and get away with it...Guess I was wrong.

She’ll like Aspen. But , it’ll only hold a few days interest like most any of the other ski venues.

I have a T shirt type attitude and personality, so a few novelty shops don’t bother me much.
