Hi guys

My wife and her sisters and husbands are planning a trip for her 40th birthday in May and everyone seems to like the Secrets Playa Mujeres

Anyone have any experience with this? i saw one review on here where the guy hated the food. thats odd because most of the reviews talk about how good the food is.

It has great swim up suites and free green fees (minus the $90 cart fee lol)

Please share any feedback on this resort

We stayed at excellence playa mujeres 2 yrs ago. Great place but more geared towards honeymooners or anniversaries. We got in trouble more than once for being too rowdy. We had 6 couples on the trip and all like to drink, chill and have a good time. When they were reprimanding us for being too loud, we were told this is for relaxation and romance. Great food and a lot to do though. Still had a great time. Check it out.

It is definitely adults only. Channel 50 and 51 on the TVs reminds you of that right away. Our room was a swim up suite and it was awesome. Right by everything. The excellence club section of beach is sweet also. Really nice loungers and off to one side. First class service there. I've stayed at Secret resorts also and they are about what and what with Excellence. Both great places.

Good info. That’s one we had circled but she didn’t like that it wasn’t a true swim out

We stayed at paradisus in Playa and she fell in love with the swim out and wants the same. It also had a private jucuzzi on the patio that was huge

For the people who have stayed at excellence, know anything about the golf situation? Free other than green fee or golf not included? Closest golf course seems to be the Greg Norman one. Thanks for any insight

Golf not included (Excellence) but concierge called and they picked me up in a cart, drove to the course about 5 min away. About $150 if I remember. Nice resort course.

Yes, Norman course. Playa Mujeres Golf Club

I went there last October, and of all the AI I have been to this was by far the worst!

The only good thing was the service at the pool, but aside from that I wouldn't go here. The service at the restaurants and food were bad. We went to the Dreams (next door) for the Brazilian Steakhouse which was recommended by several people. It was so bad we got up and left. The meat was still mooing it was so rare. We were not the only one that thought it was bad. We ran into several people that had just as bad of an experience.

The Italian and French were nothing to write home either. At each one the service was sub par at best. If you could, I would go to Secrets Maroma.

If you are set on the Cancun area I would highly recommend el dorado maroma. We went this past summer and everything about it was awesome. There is no golf course there but still the resort itself was amazing.

We just booked a last minute trip down there in June. I've read mixed reviews on the food, but I know going in that it's resort food.
How is the place outside of the food?
What's the drink situation?
