My wife is going to a training seminar in early June and me and my 14 year old son are going and plan on doing day trips out of Kirkland.
Would like to do some fishing and sight seeing (mainly countryside, mountain attractions. Restaurant recs too please.
Thanks!

You talking a charter or guided trip? Or just go mess around on a small river or something?

Alright I'm back and can at least try to help although there's definitely going to be others on here that can help more.
Sight seeing- are you interested in hiking? Just did Lake Serene last weekend here and it took up a good chunk of the day. You can stop at Bridal Veil Falls on the way up to the lake, although it was still covered in about 4 feet of snow near the top. Anything along highway 2 should be great for a hike, especially if it's midweek while most people are at work.
I haven't done this but have heard you can rent mountain bikes at Steven's Pass (also off highway 2). Take the ski lift up, mountain bike down and repeat. That might be fun for a 14 yr old?
If you and the wife want to hit up a few wineries/breweries, Woodinville is a great spot with plenty of outdoor cool venues. There's a bunch of roudnabouts but in that general area are about 10 wineries/breweries.
Plenty of golf courses/driving ranges around if you're into that?
I'll let others chime in on fishing as I too am interested in what's good around here

Snoqualmie Falls, Mt. Si hike if you are into outdoors and hikes, then hit up the breweries in town before heading back to Kirkland.

These dudes trying to make you spend your whole trip in the car. Weekdays aren’t too bad on any trail so you can hike close. Rattlesnake Ledge, Poo Poo Point (can also paraglide here), Mount Si/Little Si, Lake 22, Wallace Falls, Mailbox Peak. Could white water raft down Highway 2 on the Skykomish River. Catch a salmon charter out of Seattle or Everett. Like mentioned, Woodinville is next to Kirkland and has a bunch of restaurants and wineries. Kirkland has Cafe Juanita and a couple other decent spots in their little downtown on Lake Washington. Might be fun to cruise up to Chuckanut Drive and get oysters at Taylor Shellfish one day. Could kayak Lake Union in Seattle. Plenty to do. June up here is awesome.

I don't know much about that area but I read the Skykomish river is a good steelhead river. Opens in June. I don't know any names of guides there so you're on your own. I mostly fish the coastal tributaries, ocean, and the Columbia river.
The best fishing happens after you leave unless you're willing to drive to Sekiu or Westport for a ling cod/sea bass bottom fishing trip. About $150. I do know some names in those locations.
I personally would not pay for a charter/guide in the sound. The fishing is only getting worse and the best fishing happens there after you leave. Not that it's that good anyway and they are expecting somewhat low returns. I live an hour away from the sound and I've never fished it. There's typically better fishing elsewhere.
Try to do all your fishing within 2/3 days unless you don't care about paying more for your licenses.
If off on your own pay attention to the regulations. Typically you need your lawyer to help decipher the bullshite the state puts in there.
Pinch your barbs.
Good luck.
Eta....steelhead trip in a drift boat/raft could be ideal. It'll just be you 2 and the guide on the boat. More of a personal experience with your kid.
