I'm going to a concert at the auditorium on Saturday night in Shreveport. Any recommendations on where to eat, things to do in the area, and places to avoid? Thanks!

Where are you staying?

For dinner there's also Oyster Bar, the original Superior Grill, and Superior Steakhouse if you want something more upscale.

Yeah just for the concert. Given your post about the municipal, should I drive to the concert or will I be able to find an Uber? Staying at the Hilton.

You'll probably be fine walking, but downtown can get sketchy at night. You should be able to find an Uber.

If you are staying at the Hilton downtown and are just looking for some place to eat before the concert nearby, I guess Blind Tiger isn't terrible..

Never eaten at Blind Tiger, so can't speak to the food, but Abby Singer's Bistro in the Robinson Film Center is amazing, Chef Tootie turns out some awesome food.

They have a great happy hour as well

Yeah Abby Singer is good too, just haven't been in forever and knew they changed chefs several times so wasn't sure if it was the same quality

also Parish Taceaux is good

Wish Savage didn't close

Slow down there, Cochise.

Have you seen the cheerleading sponsors and coaches and the moms that come to watch these cheerleaders? And this might not even be a high school cheerleading competition. It could be JUCO or college.

I lived in Shreveport for over 30 years and I definitely would not recommend anyone, a local and especially not a visitor, attempt walking to the Municipal Auditorium. You’re taking a chance walking from the parking lot, much less the Hilton. I would recommend Uber or Lyft, taxi, anything that could drop you near the door. If you already have reservations at the Hilton don’t let the cheerleader crowd discourage you.
The Shreveport Municipal Auditorium is one of the most underrated music (sound) venues that exist. It kinda reminds me of Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and with the way it’s laid out, there’s is really a bad seat in the place. It’s a place where music legends were created in the 1950’s and you’ll be on hallowed ground as far as musical history. As you may be aware Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Faron Young, KittyWells,Johnny Horton Jim Reeves Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Lefty Frizzel and a lot of other stars from that era played there on a regular basis.

Gotcha. I haven't canceled the Hilton yet. We will use Uber. Hopefully it won't be a problem to get one after the show. Thanks for the info on the venue. I'll have to try and find some old shows on YouTube.

If you haven’t done it, look up Louisiana Hayride and Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, it was as big as Nashville’s Grand Ol’ Opry at one time and would still be if it was n any other area besides North Louisiana. The area of Shreveport that it’s in has declined drastically over the years and the people in that area that could afford to invest in it and make it big aren’t willing to put money into it because of the areas demographic won’t support it. If not for a few local philanthropist and history enthusiasts, it would have already been closed and torn down.
Hope you enjoy the Jenks show and your time in Shreveport. If you’re only gonna be there for the evening of the show and not looking to travel around Shreveport, I’d recommend The Blind Tiger Restaurant, it’s close to Hilton and the have decent Cajun for Shreveport, great burgers, Blackened Catfish, crab cake, pretty good desserts and drinks. You can probably see their menu online before you go.
