Are they worth the $$$? Looking for a nice place to spend a week in the Caribben this spring without spending 10k. Can anyone suggest a similar resort experience with a smaller price tag?

Looking to relax 3-4 days ( beach, drinking, etc) and spend the other couple of days exploring the area.

We have had two great experiences with them. Some will complain that they are the McDonald’s of all inclusive but I tend to disagree. They do a great job of letting you get away from it all to relax without the fear of the unknown.

The food sucks. Otherwise it’s okay.

TripAdvisor has a traver’s choice awards they are given out every year, there is an all inclusive category. It is selersted by region, it is a good place see how they rank. The nicer the place the older the crowd...

My first and last visit to a Sandals felt like Spring Break South. Much better values and atmospheres in the Caribbean.

I don't want knock them too much, but I think if you do your research you can do alot better. I went to a Sandals for my honeymoon and I regretted it. Drinks are watered down, food is OK. I was at Sandals Jamaica but thought I might as well be in Sandals Mobile, Alabama with some Bob Marley playing in the background.

I did Sandals in the Bahamas for my honeymoon and didn't think the food was that bad. It wasn't great, but not horrible. And I mostly drank beer during the day and wine at dinner so didn't experience watered down drinks. And the guy at the pool bar always put a rum floater in the Mrs's strawberry dacquiris.

That said, you can do a lot better for around the same price.

yeah concerning the drinks, if I asked they would make it however I liked. But if not one of the mixed specialty drinks were usually not strong.

sandals can be pretty pricey. I wasn't a big fan of the food. we went to the Omni in cancun 2 months ago. it was much cheaper, quicker flight/transport from the airport, and the food was much better. if you want something nice but still very affordable, I'd look there.

I’ll speak to the one the wife and I went to, the Grand St Lucian. Simply put, you get what you pay for. You can do Sandals where you have a private house and wait for nothing and sit wherever. You can do Sandals where it’s a mad dash to put your towel down and claim a chair.

I was planning on a sandals resort for my honeymoon but luckily someone talked me out of it and into couples resorts, specifically couples swept away. Food was very good as were the drinks.
