Brenda's and State Bird in Fillmore are good options. Brenda's is much more casual, but pretty fantastic soul food. State Bird is my go-to restaurant in SF with clients or co-workers - small plates, lively atmosphere make for easy conversation.
China Live is a good option for dinner if you'd like a modern-take on Chinese food with a cocktail-forward menu. Can get crowded, but I really like its setting inside a marketplace.
Had a work dinner at Blue Plate in Bernal Heights a couple months back. Like State Bird, it's shared, but definitely larger portions. Was pretty impressed with the variety of their large plates.
Co-worker introduced me to Anchor Oyster Bar, which I like much more than Hog Island. Make it a point to go each time I'm out there now. Short walk to Mission Dolores if you want to see a great view of the skyline.
Mission has some fantastic taquerias. If you're looking for something quick, plenty to choose from. Otherwise, Lazy Bear is a must-go in SF. Pretty damn pricey, and I'm not sure how reservations are right now. Worth doing if you're willing to spend a pretty penny.

Easily the best meal/experience I've ever had.
