Great weather, friendly people, great food. I was there last summer and loved Lisbon and Porto. But buying there is not as cheap as you would imagine. Real Estate is cheap for europe but similar in price to big southern cities (Nola, Atlanta, Houston). If you want to live in the city center, then its very pricey...$500k and up for an apartment.

The Duoro valley is Portugal's Napa, and seems like a dream home would be relatively cheap there.

Cities are great too aside from the ubiquitous graffiti. Portugal isn't really growing much. A lot of out-migration due to economy. Good for prices I guess.

No personal experience, but a lot of expats retire there, especially Brits. Algarve region is big. Great weather, not expensive.

Portugal is starting to intrigue me. My with and I are going to do an extended trip to Spain in the next few years and we may need to work Portugal into it.

It’s a great place. The food is good and the people are friendly.
