2 (maybe 3) mid-60’s guys, decent Colorado-intermediate skiers, made 30+ trips in USA, thinking of bucket-list trip to ski Europe in Winter/Spring 2027. Any recommendations on where/how to do the research on where to ski & stay, as well as getting around? Thinking 2-3 resorts in about 2 weeks; Italy, Austria, Switzerland look promising but need more info. Probably won’t have the wives, not interested in glitz but not hostels. Ok with trains or driving, but prefer to minimize distances between sites.

Personal specific experiences welcomed, also looking for leads on research resources like specialized agents, dedicated websites, ski clubs, outfitters et al. Just not sure where to start. Thanks!

I took my family last spring break but kids are under 10 so I'm looking at different types of places but you might want to look at Obergurgl and St. Anton in Austria.

Surprised nothing in France?

Also, if useful I used "Alps 2 Alps" for transport.

ETA in case useful to anybody:

We looked at doing a West US ski trip and then came upon Club Meds and it's insane value. I was dubious of the all inclusive but ski shop is right next to the locker room, walk right out onto the mountain and taking lifts within 2 minutes from the door was hard to beat at Gran Massif. If you (not OP) have kids the kids club will suit your kids all day and take them to lunch so you can ski all day if you want. Group lessons are included for everyone in the room rate. Private are extra. Now that place was very kid friendly but I think other properties may be less so.

Also, a lot of places have their own ski shops. I wouldn't even bother bringing any poles, skis, boots or helmets but I'm not a pro or anything.

I'm going next spring to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis area in Austria. No Club Meds there but lots of places include board and again, have lockers, ski in/ski out or private lifts, ski rental and lessons on site.

Have a look at Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn.

https://www.fieberbrunn.com/skigebiet

Either drive or train from Munich or Salzburg.

In that vein there's also SkiWelt.
