Yep, you're right. I spent 10 years flying internationally, almost always in coach, and worked on five continents in a single calendar year. But I have no idea what I'm talking about. Tack that onto military and military brat experience, dragging toddlers onto 12 hour flights at 11pm in foreign countries, etc.
quote:Evidently, we can't all be superhumans like you, unregulated and unaffected by drastic changes in time for which our bodies were not evolved. The idea that jet lag isn't a real thing sure proves what a man you are. Bravo.
You can choose to be a soft arse traveler, or not. You choose soft. That's your prerogative. If you don't prepare yourself to be time zone changed in a single day, that's on you. Or you can do all kinds of dumb shite like taking a nap in the afternoon when you land in Europe, and make the transition take take 3-4 days. Sure, it's 1100AM at your destination, go ahead and sleep on the plane for five hours, that'll work out well. That's on the traveler. I made that mistake once when I was 12, and never did it again.
quote:More words to register zero acknowledgement that the numbers you cited were incorrect.
I bet you're a big whiner during daylight savings transitions, too.
What's hilarious is you designated my suggestions "insane" because they were too long/extreme. And now you're lecturing me for being a whiner.
To summarize: both Costa Rica and Tahiti are 9-15 hours away from Seattle (depending on your specific flights, although Tahiti has much better nonstop options and Seattle does not have one at this time of year) and both are 2 hours or less in time zone change. And yet you saw fit to label Tahiti as "insane" to get to relative to Costa Rica.
Please, list more of your precious credentials so I can expand my awe for your rational, fact-based claims.

quote:You keep saying this as if it is somehow true of Seattle. There are only 2 "Central American" nonstops from Seattle - part of the year to Liberia (Costa Rica) and Belize.
But you can stay in hundreds of places in Central America and wave down fishermen to bring you lobster caught 20m ago, and have a chef come cook for you days a week, while you wake up over blue waters, and just relax, somewhere that is not 12 hours away.
Those are 9 hour flights - if that's where you even want to go. Anywhere else in CA will likely take you much longer than 12 hours with connections.
